996 GT2 old magazine articles/running reports

Was chatting at the Brooklands Sunday Service with the GT2 guys as they are building a register of all GT2 models (not that many around) and we got onto the subject of running reports and long term test cars.
I seem to remember one of the magazines ran a black 996 GT2 for a period of time, this was ages ago but I remember reading about it and some of the issues it had. For some strange reason I'm thinking it had at least one engine replacement under warranty, something to do with oil starvation?
Can anyone shed any light on this, was it in EVO, could it of been Chris's old car or have I completely lost it!

GT Purely Porsche. Nothing to do with Monkey. Had an engine under warranty after a cam failed. Was a Comfort spec car but the OPC (or Reading) who fitted a replacement engine fitted a set of bucket seats into it. I can't remember whether the seats were supplied FOC or fitted FOC (I suspect the latter).
Well I've dug out some old copies of GT Purely Porsche and Harris's 996 GT2 is featured as a running report, only have two editions in that time era, so not the full series of features so no new engine being required on this car at this stage of the report.
He mentions Pirelli Corsa tyres being N rated and available in GT2 sizes which is interesting as I'm on N4 Michelin's.
I'm still not totally sure that this is the car that I was thinking about being featured, I thought it was a black car as opposed to the slate grey car that Chris had, however I could be wrong and I remember a new engine being required at least once in the running report.
Makes some interesting reading as he really does sing it's praises once set up and also the value for money even back nearly ten years ago when they were changing hands for circa £70k from an OPC.

thats the car in the GTPP running report, but I think another magazine may have had one for a period but not 100% sure, just remember it having an engine issue and it being replaced at least once during the term of the report.

Furthermore production of the N rated Corsas mentioned ceased years ago. Both the car belonging to Harris AND the car featured in the GTPP running report ended up on Corsas IIRC.

Evening Henry,Is this true? A shame if so as it was one if the stimuli for me getting a '2 given it's performance in the hands of Tiff and it's looks in the evo '911 super test'. I even considered trying to track it down to see if the owner wanted to sell..
Evening Jamie, 'fraid so, an epic shunt by all accounts, the driver thrown from the car during the event.
The BiB appeared and asked the driver where the driver was. When he replied he was the driver, they didn't believe him such was the damage to the car and the state it was in (and the state he was in, that being largely unharmed)
But I agree, a real shame, they look spectacular in Guards (as indeed does the Mk1 996 GT3)

I think I need a GT2 to keep the turbo company!!! Still, considering how quick a tuned turbo is, I'd think a GT2 is a real handful if you are not careful, I consider myself to be a pretty good driver with considerable rear wheel drive experience, and having owned a turbo for 9 months now, I'm not ashamed to say I think a GT would probably be a bit of a daunting prospect to drive even remotely quickly!
Love them, personally I think they are easily the best looking 911 ever made, just hope I can afford one before they go completely out of reach.

Get in quickly then if the JZ £85k car is the new benchmark.
I still think the hardest part is actually finding one for sale, then doing due diligence to check it over to see what the real condition is under the shinny paint and carbon brakes.
What is the latest count on these under 100 uk cars? I've never seen another on the road unless it's one of the organised get togethers.
