Just a general unbiased observation to chew on prior to this weekend's fixtures.

Feeble performances in the Champions League.

Big clubs like Man Utd, Liverpool, Tottenham and Everton wallowing in mid-table mediocrity below the likes of Southampton, West Ham and Swansea.

Wretched football at the bottom of the table.

Giant transfer sums (Bale, Suarez, etc.) squandered on countless foreign no-marks ). How many times have you heard a Manager claim he'll use the money for improving the squad and yet the net result is always the opposite.

I normally like to champion the Premier League as much as the next man, but the reality is we're being cast adrift from the rest of Europe: certainly well behind La Liga and the Bundesliga and no better than Serie A.

What i want to see is a mini cup at the end of season from the main 4 but instead of using the champs, use the bottom 2 teams. That way wed see which leagues the sttest not which team is the best after its spunked loads of money

A friend of mine was saying similar in that he thought the standards of the PL was much lower than it used to be.

People don't like to hear it but the premier league is no longer at the top of the tree. If may well be the most watched/surprising. But La Liga has overtaken it by some margin in terms of technicality. Those who say it's just Scotland with sun are about 5 years behind. You only have to look at the Champions League and Europa league to see they consistently get through the furthest. Take Real and Barca out and City and Chelsea and like for like La Liga will dominate the Prem.
