Just seen a trailer for the new upcoming series of Masterchef. It looks like it's Marcus Wareing replacing Michel Roux Jnr. WTF? He's going to be a real barrel of laughs!

So wrong.

Tom Kerridge shouldve been given it.

Wareing was getting his personality transplant practice on in the last series of MC, also evident when he appeared on Great British Menu. MRJ is a massive loss. I will still watch it avidly, but I won't pretend I'm not gutted that they don't have MRJ now.

For a moment there I thought this was gonna involve a Capri, an Escort RS2000 and a 2.8 Granada Ghia... frown

I guess the opening credits could be a Granada smashing through the front window of Cafe Rouge of something.

Marcus Wareing.

Absolute of the highest order - an intensely unlikeable individual.

MRJ was basically outed because of him advertising potatoes.

http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2014/mar/1...

Tom Kerridge has no-where near the pedigree of MRJ or MW (despite my inherent dislike for him) even though he has 2 stars to which a large proportion of the catering industry and critics completely disagree with plus

Phil Howard of The Square would have been my choice, firm, fair but with a decent blokes persona, plus he's been at the top of his game for many years at 2 stars. Gary Rhodes would have been a good shout (although his on screen personality has changed significantly over the last few years to something a lot more sullen and serious) as would most of the Roux Scholarship judges. Michel Roux Snr would have been a great watch as well.

I'm holding out hope that Marcus will be ok in the role - but I will miss MRJ.

Will be interesting to see if Marcus Wareing has 'mellowed' for the TV cameras.

Pfft. Like the "name" stooge matters. Wallace is the real driving force behind the program - those so called "chefs" have no idea about combining cream with sugar and syrup in the same pudding.

I had the best meal of my life so far at the Berkeley - Petrus by Marcus Wearing some 7 years ago now, aged 24 we were treated like royalty, exceptional service and food with even a tour of the kitchens at the end.

Every other Michelin we have been too since has been a little disappointing in comparison.

I know he is not as likeable as Michelle Jr but he certainly knows his stuff and look forward to his more direct and honest criticism.

Bloody Mrs is making us watch Holby though so will be an hr behind.

He'll never replace MRJ, but I think he did a good job.

Like how Greg is now introduced as a 'Seasoned Diner' laugh What's that supposed to mean?

Agreed MW managed to tone down his mental and came across as a caring judge. Pleasantly surprised
