Caught a bit of this last night and notice the people who hold the medal trays are wearing waistcoats and bleedin' flat caps!
and what is almost worse is the old PC thing going mad where the get some one in a wheelchair to hand out the bloody long-jump medals!?!?!

Are you suggesting that people with physical disabilities should be excluded from such roles in society?

I agree with Mark that it makes the whole PC thing seem ridiculous. At every medal ceremony at least one medal was presented by someone in a wheelchair. What is this trying to say ??? - one in three mancunians are wheelchair bound ? - Wheelchair bound people are most likely per head of population to volunteer to present medals ? Presenting medals is all that wheelchair people can do ?

Surely this does nothing for the cause of inclusiveness for disabled people in society, but may do something in the way of giving some officals a nice warm "I've helped the poor disabled person" feeling.

Not at all Terminator - far from it. Perhaps a little more consideration as to the medal ceremony to which they are helping.
It's like a blind person giving out darts trophies, or something - see what I mean?

Mark, I see your point now, but if I were wheelchair-bound, I'd be more offended by having to wear a stupid green cap and waistcoat than to take part in a ceremony for an event in which I couldn't compete.

I think it's probably because feckless soap watchers should really be encouraged to get off their fat arses and do something other than watching piss poor actors in highly improbably and contrived situations (and I don't mean switching over to big brother or going out to buy a lottery ticket)... but that's just my opinion

Is it wrong then that Tani Grey-Thompson's London Marathon medals should be presented by somebody who is not in a wheelchair?

The CWG volunteers include people from all sectors of life, there are obviously jobs that can't be done from a wheelchair, carrying medals is not one of them.

I do however think the cloth caps are taking the mickey, if the games were in London would they have dressed up as those bloody irritating Pearly Kings and Queens? (Apologies to any Pearlies offended I know you do a lot of Charity work).
