07 Cayman S at 70k bores NOT scored...
Discussion
Just had the plugs replaced on my cayman at a well respected indy so i had a boroscope done at the same time. The car uses about 600ml of oil per 1000 miles and so i was a bit nervous based on what i have read in the past planting an idea that somehow 'its inevitable' on higher mileage cars. Anyway, got the results back and no signs of any wear/tear reported, all looks good. Im almost disappointed in a way and will have to find something else to give me sleepless nights! Anyways just thought i would share in case anyone else has similar worries based on mileage or there oil usage.
Yes the head man told me the oil consumption was perfectly normal. When i bought the car 2 years ago from a p specialist i asked the salesman about the various 'issues' you read about on the net and he was totally dismissive saying they sell many caymans each month and never get any back. I dismissed it as sales patter but when i later spoke to 2 separate porsche specialist workshops they pretty much told me the same thing, confirming that many of there customers regularly tracked there cars as well, and said as long as the cars are well maintained with frequent oil changes shouldn't have any issues. I have got the impression the people who deal with these cars professionally have a different perception than those who discuss them on the net! Oh well hope I haven't jinxed myself

If you take the time to read some of Hartechs research and findings, you'll find some of is dependant on how you drive, rather than related to age or miles driven. Along the lines of, fast starts after a period of hard driving coupled with coolant problems causes oil blistering on the cylinder walls...
I never had a problem with mine, and it used a bit of oil.
