A lot of you guys seem to love driving on the wrong side. I can see the point if your after an ultra rare model that's impossible to find in rhd - RSR / GT2 etc. I can also see the point if it means you can save LOADS of cash to afford your dream car. Dom mentioned lhd 360's going for 65k. That's a hell of a saving over the 100k here! What I can't understand is putting up with the hassles to save 5k on a fairly common C2 though. Personally, if in that position, I'd have a rhd 993 over a lhd 996. Actually, I'd have a rhd 355 over a 360 too. Who's the nutter?

You mate!!

Totally depends on how 'into' your cars you are and what you're willing to settle for. The arguement is that for RHD money you can usually afford the next model up. Most people (me excluded I'm afraid)would rather have a 996 over a 993 (for obvious reasons like it's newer etc) so if you don't mind LHD why not get the next best model available?

A RHD 964 will cost you about £20k and that's what I paid for my 993.... see what I mean?

UV will tell you this is cos I'm pikey, very true, but I see it as getting value for money. A 993 for £20k is great value but I would never pay near £30 for the same car. I'd happily pay £35-40k for a LHD 993 T4 or 355 would coludn't justify £50k for the same in RHD. there's just so many 'better' cars around for the dosh.

If you haven't driven LHD much in the UK you'll never understand this argument (about as pointless as bickering whether TVR is better than Porsche etc) but most say it's no harder (I in fact prefer it most of the time) so it makes even more sense.

LHD only affects resale, It really doesn't matter a jot when you're driving, infact many LHD cars have a better driving position that the same in RHD due to the pedal positions (clutch foot can rest on the wheelarch bulge in LHD). Horses for course but it really isn't a big deal in use.

my LHD 348 drives far better than any of the rhd ones I tried, pedals more natural etc etc. My 911 was the same.

As regards Ferrari, you can save as much £20K on LHD 550M's as the RHD equivalents. Moreover if you really MUST be the first person on your street to get a new model of car then LHD is one way of doing it.

But your insurance, servicing etc are higher for no particular reason. And verifying history can be very difficult -
Thing is certain cars are just too difficult to drive on the left - Try taking an LHD Testarossa/Diablo through London.....

I drove a LHD BMW M1 through London, and that is almost as wide and low as a testarossa. Has flying butresses and a slatted rear screen cover, so can't see sod all over your shoulder/behind you.

It was OK, again, you get used to it.

Nightmare (a PHer) reckons his Lambo Diablo shrinks around you when you have driven a few miles in it.

It is however, an inconvenience to be in a LHD car at a Maccy D's drive-thru.

Therefore, can we conclude that UV in his RHD car likes fast food more than fast wimmin???

No, no, it’s far easier to find left-handed women than it is to find good LHD cars
