... that if BLiar and his cronies want to make the roads of the UK flow with ease, reduce congestion and still generate revenue he should ditch the speed camera's and give every MLOC member or people generally sitting in lanes 2 or 3 with nothing to their insides the 3 points and £60 fine.

He'd have a field day! Added to which pretty quickly people would get the message and the roads would be a better place for all of us.

Guess who got wound up driving back from Wales yesterday then!!!

You could solve congestion in London by making all the roads in the Royal Parks one way (inwards).

I was driving along the M25 the other day (late not a lot of traffic) im in lane one and there is a car in lane two and three (on a 4 lane section) so I passed them on the left hand side and got funny looks.

So to prove a point further up the road exactly the same thing but this time I decide to pass them correctly. This ment crossing three lanes passing them and crossing a further three lanes to get back in the left hand lane. I think the first situation was much safer and would do it again.

If someone is passed on the left handside then they should ask themselves why not just make funny faces.

I have also started to flash middle lane drivers to get them out of my way and into the correct lane. Pity you cant tell them what they are doing wrong

I've just taken to going straight down the inside as well. My lane is clear, I have no reason to add extra wear to the tyres and steering components etc so I'm not going to.

The MLOC member is after all forcing me to break the law.

I always do this too.

If I get really pissed off I overtake on the outside then make a point of cutting across all three lanes in front of the car in the middle lane, just to make my point. Otherwise I occasionally give a blast on the horn as I pass on the inside - if only to make sure they know I'm there and they don't switch lanes.

All of this is in the absence of any squad cars of course.

Had one on Sunday - came up behind her on a dual carriageway, doing about 75ish... She wouldn't move out of the way til I flashed her, then she pulled over into the empty (about 1/2 a mile til the next car) left lane, I went past her then pulled over as well. Checked in my mirror and the silly twat is indicating to pull out into the righthand lane again and she did too. WHY?????

I hate these f@ckin' people too.

A couple of months back I was going down the M56 in the slow lane doing about 80mph at 2am on a stretch where I had only one car in front of me, and guess what, the silly b!tch was in the middle lane without another car in sight. Worse still, when I caught her and moved into the middle lane (she was doing about 60mph) and flashed her she didn't move. I tried a couple of times and then overtook in the fast lane and moved back in to the slow lane and continued on my way. To my amazement she flashed me, shook her hand as though I had done something wrong and continued on her merry way in the middle lane!

I say we k!ll them all!

They should run some adds on TV, not the speed kills ones but driver information. ie advise the correct lane to drive in, how to change lanes, how to join and leave a motorway safely.

They could also runs some on how to get your kids to school without using a 4X4

I was considering the dynamics of this on the way home to alleviate my anger. All it takes if for one numpty to not move over and hey presto you have a queue of traffic trying to pass said numpty in one lane instead of two. This is what led me to think of severe punishments as surely the roads would be a hell of a lot clearer if everyone obeyed the lane discipline rules.

Discuss!

Agree with Cotty - in Netherlands and Germany, they run public information films on TV (& I think in cinemas?), dealing with lane discipline, zip merging etc..

Also, the only 'Keep left unless overtaking' signs thaty I know of in the whole of the UK are at the bottom of the M1...

Such signs should be present every mile on every motorway.. matricies should be programmed to rotate messages and include this one...

Or, get a scrolling LED sign in the back of your car, and have a trigger to display "Keep left you retard!" as you pass them.

Or, have some impromptu Deathrace 2000 practice when such a berkinald is identified.

It is my objective to frighten the living shit out of these people until they learn to stay the hell out of my way..

Might just get a banner printed out as that for a rear sunstrip

It's the hunter/hunted mentality - the more timid these drivers are, the more space they need around them, hence the tendency to drive in the middle lane.

Also, I think that whereas thirty years ago, these people used to drive around in little Austin 1100s that couldn't go up hills, so they knew they should let more powerful cars past, these days they can quite happily reach 70mph in their 1.6 Almeras, therefore they can go as fast as anyone else, therefore why should anyone need to overtake them?

Get them off the roads!

And it's always these middle lane f@ckwits that, approach another numpty, pull out infront of you, then indicate as your stamping on the stop pedal and blasting your horn and flashing your lights, they then crawl past the other numpty, pull back in and then shake there head at you as if it's your fault that they pulled out infront of you!

Napalm is the only way

I had a couple of belters on sunday morn, 2am, went to get a beer and a pie from the fridge, none in there, bugger, no milk, or teabags, so I dedided to nip down the road to the 24 hour Tesco.
1. Approaching a roundabout behind a Volvo 240 Hatch, the road markings and sign posts clearly state that the the left hand lane is for those turning left and going straight on to B&Q and Safeway, and the righthand lane is for those carrying on to the Dual Carriageway to Irvine and Ayr, so the Volvo goes into the left hand lane and carries on and I do the same in the right, go past the second exit and the volvo is still on the roundabout, turning into me, F@ucking Sh*t, on the anchors and the horn and the old dodderer realises he's got it wrong and speeds off before I can break his skull .
2. On the Dual Carriageway, 85 - 90, visibility unrestricted (amazingly) the carriageway is lit for about a mile and there is a car about half a mile in front of me in what I think is the inside lane, so I move into the outside lane just before the slight bend, get round the bend and this bloke is stopped in the outside lane, hit the brakes and pull up behind him to see if there is a problem. He's lost and stopped to read his map!

and then of course the usual middle/outside lane hogs while the inside remains empty, so a quick blast up the inside and no problems at all!

Where does the mentality of these people go? Do they loose the ability to read signs past 60? Do people forget that the fast lane is not a hardshoulder at night?
This country is full of F@ckwits and without some serious culling, it ain't gonna get any better!!!

(Obviously all PH readers are exempt from the above statement and therefore the culling programme! )

This is the exact subject that I wrote to the Dept of transport about just one month ago - they replied with a nice letter saying that I should remember undertaking (or overtaking on the inside or whatever else you want to call it) is actually not illegal.

great - answered that one!!

ps: You'll be able to spot me easily, I'm the POrker cutting up the inside lane all the time on the M40.

Blimey, that letter is worth its weight in gold then!

Thats all the justification I need to continue this practice in that case.

I don't suppose as a public service you could scan this letter so that others might benefit?

I've seen the exact same message displayed on the big overhead scrolling message type things on the M20 and M2 fairly often, along with "don't drive tired take a break" (mispelt tied one morning) and "leave a gap from the car in front" and other useful numptie prompts.

My father purchased a new Austin 1100 in 1964. By the time it had passed through the hands of my bother and myself it could cruise at 100mph in fifth (Jack Knight box) and top out 125-130mph (1293 cross flow head with 4 Amals). Even in standard form they were 10mph + faster than a Mini and many seconds quicker to 60.
