TVR team splashes cash in victory push
New name, drivers and budget for 400R-based team
TVR race team owner Lawrence Tomlinson has upped the ante. After his toe-in-the-water exercise last season with RSR Racing, he's moving the team into a new 8,000 sq. metre factory in Sheffield and employing more staff. The "substantial" budget includes a full time role for respected engineer Alan Mugglestone and developing the Blackpool marque into a serious challenger for GT2 honours.
Tomlinson now owns four TVR 400Rs and intends the team -- now re-branded as LNT -- to race two of them throughout Europe in the LMES series, taking in Sebring and Le-Mans as part of the programme. The remaining two cars are being committed to a full British GT programme.
Both campaigns will involve Warren Hughes and Jonny Kane, as they will drive together for the LMES and then be pitched against each other in the British championship. Drivers are still being considered for the second LMES car, and Team LNT has left the prime drive alongside Hughes for the British campaign open to suitably funded drivers.
After several months of component and development testing, the cars are now undergoing extensive modifications in readiness of full rebuilds; before a major European testing programme kicks off early in the New Year.
