Can any one give and idea as to what upgrades i can do to my e36 m3 evo to improve performance and handling. (before i invest in a stylish spoiler, as seen in the ebay ad - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=9837&item=4512522888&rd=1 )
Do strut braces do a good job ?
What about the chips - and is there any value to a suspension upgrade ?
And one other thing i recently had some work done at munich legends and recieved a great service. However when i got the car back there seemed to be a differance in height at the back i.e one side the wheel was further away from the body work than the other side.
I was told this is a normal set up for the m3, now is this true or not ?

Yeah I found this beemer on ebay the other day and posted here on PH's...... on Friday.
Have a look at the thread
www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=144050&f=72&h=0
As far as upgrades goes I have a E36 M3 Evo SMG the only things i've done are AC carbon fibre strut brace (all E36 M3's should have come with a strut brace all the E46's do as standard) This helps so much with keeping the front end nice and flat on corners.
I have green stuff airfilters to help her breath.
Angel eyes and projector indicators (to make it look a bit newer)
And thats it really - I don't think I will do any more as I don't want a thread or comments being made about what a mess my car is!!!
Perhaps the only other thing I would do is a carbon fibre induction kit.
With 322BHP do you really need much more these days with our roads?
Plus if you have a warranty the boyz at BMW will not work on the car if they think any mods have caused the result of it being in there.
Hope this helps................?

cheer for the help mate, but where do i get a carbon fibre strut brace from and how much should i expect to pay ?
If you get the 2 x BMW mags this month, Total BMW and Performance BMW they have companies which can help you.
As far as price goes the AC SCHNITZER carbon ones are around £600 but you can get struts alot cheaper which do the same job.
With regards to the set-up at the back of your ///M this does not sound right to me.....possible bush gone on one side?
Cheers
I'm not very familiar with the Evo e36 M3 but you could also get an after market exhaust or even exhaust headers back with larger and lighter pipes.
www.turnermotorsport.com/html/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=SHORTYHEADER
These exhaust headers are really nice looking but then again you have an Evo and are overseas so I don't know if US BMW performance parts (engine related in particular) are appropriate. There are cat pipes that free up a lot of horsepower on these cars.

There is also a factory brace that fits on the underside of the car that is normally used in the e36 convertibles and light weight e36 M3.
BTW I have no relation with this outfit nor have I ever bought anything from them but those cat back pipes are intriguing. The evo is a sweet sweet car!

Also a cheap affordable upgrade is braided steel brake lines. I have not tried this but it is supposed to firm up the peddle and improve the feel. Although it's a little over the top you could get a carbon hood. This is a little silly but it does save considerable weight. It will probably not operate like the old hood and require the elimination of the compression/shock thingys. A racing seat would also be a fine addition but I don't know how this affects the pyrotechnic seat belt tensioners.
the formula for a good E36 Evo is as follows.
AC Schnitzer Sport (not Racing) suspension
AC Schnitzer roll bars
AC Schnitzer front and rear braces
Sports Exhaust from Skorpion or similar
AC Schnitzer shorit Shift (a Must!)
Possible upgrade to 18" Type 3 alloys with Neros
Take car to Bexley Motor Works and speak to Jags to have a Unichip fitted.
Then have a lot of fun! This is tried and tested so I know it works and I've driven more Evos than most have had hot dinners!
