The exhaust tips on my wife's 2003 Boxster 3.2S have vanished and we are left with two round holes which I assume the tips were attached to. I assume someone stole them but I guess they could have fallen off. What should we look at as an affordable replacement?

Can I buy two tailpipes and attach then separately or do I need one unit with two bores? Could someone post a link please?

It is a separate trim that is only used on the facelift 986S, which I also have. Earlier models have them welded to the exhaust box itself and the 987 is different again. The only one on ebay:

I have seen replacement one piece oval trims on ebay but not at the moment.

They are only held on by one bolt so may have been stolen. However, mine was rattling due to being loose. The captive nut on the trim is only tack-welded on and has awful access.

Thanks that's really helpful. Looks like the securing bracket underneath is all good but the metal strip above the tips which they hook over has been damaged, I assume by someone ripping the tips off.

I guess you could look at some aftermarket ones? Most are gash though.

You should be able to get them SH on Ebay.

Here was mine (There should be a captive nut on the underside of the hole) I replaced it with a stainless steel M8 nut and bolt:

The trim is held on by bolting through a bracket on the rear exhaust box that has a oval hole in it.

Even with it fitted, the trim pipes do not actually touch the very short stubby twin pipes you can now see. It's safe to drive as it is but, as I'm sure you've noticed, doesn't look good! Long term, I expect fume may get in the boot but I'm not certain about that.

That's exactly how mine looks. I can't see it on yours but I assume from looking at the part on eBay that there is a bit which also hooks onto the car as well as the bolt.

Yes, it hooks onto the seam of the back box. You can see the shadow of it on mine above the 2 exit pipes.

That looks just like the exhaust on the back of a leMans 911
