Watch help.......Omega or Tag
Discussion
Folks I am about to purchase my first expensive watch after Christmas, I have chosen 2 watches
1) The Omega Speedmaster Date 3513.30

or
2) Tag Heuer Carrera CV2113.FC6180 CV2113

What I would like to know is which one of these has a better more reliable mechanism, also will there ever be a resell value on them. Oh an are suppliers such as blitz watches and aa-watches worth buying from, do I still get the same warranty as from the high street, if I choose a reseller such as Selfridges or Harrods will they do a price match with internet sellers such as blitz for cash.
Is there any other things I need to know, any other watch recommendations up to about £1200 would be great.(an yes I know the tag is well over £1200, but that is a such nice watch)…..
Oh and whist i am here does anyone have experience of Russian Poljot watches, as i may get this for daily wear:-

I have a TAG, an Automatic White Face Omega Speedmaster, a Seamaster, a Rolex and an Automatic Cartier Santos. I wear the Seamaster more than any other. To my mind, I would go with the Omega. I've not worn the Speedmaster for years and the Cartier for over a year - not that there is anything wrong with them.

I have an Omega Speedmaster Professional Moon Watch in my collection - beautiful watch with amazing history.
I'd go for that one if you can - the inscription on the back says it all "Flight Qualified By Nasa For All Apollo Moon Missions". It was the watch worn on the moon, and the one Jim Lovell used to time the re-entry burn on Apollo 13.
Can't get much more historic than that.
(Get the one with the hesalite crystal back if you can - more expensive but allows you to see the amazing workings).

Oh don't even go there.
Fake watches are a real pet hate.

How did he look at it? Was it outside of his suit? Don't remember that in the pictures!
Lol.
However, it is a really interesting story about how Nasa tested many watches and found this was the only one that could perform in an almost total vacuum, in zero-g and withstand pretty much anything thrown at it.
Truly a remarkable piece of engineering.

Few bother to ask servicing costs when they buy a watch. For example, any submariner watch is sealed to be watertight to a certain depth. It may cost a couple of hundred pounds to change the battery (if not a perpetual motion) clean it, and reseal the case. LA.
I tend not to buy Quartz watches, as I prefer the engineering of the real thing. I do have Corum Bubble in blue which is nice though, and it has a quartz movement.
I have a Carrera 1964 Limited Edition and it's
One of the best things I've ever bought.
