Retro MTB's at Warwick (14th Sept)

Anyone else have a soft spot for retro MTB's?

If so there is an event on in Warwick market square showcasing pre 95 mountain bikes. It will be doubly retro for me as me and my mates used to rip round Warwick before we could drive - weapons of choice, MTB's of course. Turning 17 in 1995 meant we would have been riding some eligible metal. Shame I sold my old classic MTB on ebay about 5 years ago without realising there was a strong retro MTB following.

I'm definitely going to pop back to Warwick for a look though. Hopefully there will be a Team Fat Chance Yo Eddy in blue/green fade and some nice Klein attitudes on display!

1989 Ridgeback 602LX, my first MTB was one of those!

I've a 93 Klein Adroit frameset sitting in the garage in 'Sunset' but it's got a few material dings in the tubes to safely rebuild

I don't remember seeing it there and I can't see it in my photos. They might not have made it.

Yey. As well as some cool Kleins. They still look fantastic, big fat tubing with smooth welds.

It was really cool seeing such nice bikes but i reckon by the time i went the people sat outside the cafes and bars in the square were thinking why are people taking photos of some old bikes!

Lovely as they are, it does annoy me somewhat that the arbitrary cut-off date for a "retro" mtb seems to be 1995. My 1998 Cannondale is definitely retro, but doesn't get a look in for these sorts of events.

No problem, I found a few pictures from the Madison promo stuff online. Splatter effect paint, seemed so cool at the time..

Even better is the F/C Titanium sitting behind it

I've owned so many that would easily fit in with that lot, Trek OCLV, GT Psyclone, Kona Hei Hei, Zaskar LE, 1990 LavaDome (my first MTB in white), Roberts custom etc....

What I do find a little sad is that so many of those bikes are clearly not ridden which is a real shame, though I can understand why.
