Tiagra chainset - 170 or 175mm only?

As above, it appears that I can only get a Tiagra chainset in 170 or 175mm, is this just because the distributor has sold out of the other sizes?

I'm trying to build a Genesis Croix de Fer on the cheap out of bits I have lying around, which means I can't use the 11 speed 105 I was planning as the wheels I have are only 10 speed compatible.

So, my other bikes have 172.5mm cranks, I'm tall with long legs so will I be OK with 175mm? I assume so, but want to be sure...

175mm should be fine I reckon. Unless you've had a very detailed fit you won't notice.

Just bought a 172.5mm last night from Ribble for my winter bike as I'm sick of the square taper piece of ste.

Cool, looks like it's just that Wiggle and CRC only have stock of the 170 and 175 then. I guess I'm going to have to do some shopping around to find the best deals, ideally I need to get everything from one place as the couriers charge a handling fee as well as duty on arrival here.

Ribble want £34 for delivery, which is free from Wiggle, so they're out. Not quite as bad as Planet X though, who want £90 to ship me a Kaffenback frameset!

Yup.

Means I get stuff at the VAT free price, and pay the local VAT (8%) when it arrives. Most UK retailers ship FoC (Wiggle for example) but some seem to not want the business and quote silly prices!

Possibly, but it's the same deal as buying from the UK - pay local tax here instead of German MWST but I will have a look so thanks for the tip.

Change of plan, having priced up all the bits, even using some of the finishing kit plus wheels and tyres I have spare it still ends up at about £800 so not really the cheap bike I was hoping for, so I've ordered a Day One Alfine instead, which is more suited to the type of use it'll get (urban, and some unsurfaced cycle paths) and costs less than building my own Croix.
