I want to buy a TVR, but which one? I have test driven and loved the Tuscan Speed 6, but it seems to be getting a bad press. Is there anyone out there who has owned a Cerb, Chimera, Tuscan and Griff and can honistly comment on which of these is the most "sensible" new or used TVR to buy.
No biased, just the honest truth please.

There isn't a sensible TVR...find one, buy it and fall in love!!!

Sensible cars are for work or numpties!

Your selection process has not let you down so far...

I have a Griff 500 & love it!

First of all, there is NO SUCH THING as a sensible TVR in my book.

All depends on your budget – just get THE NEWEST one you can afford ...

Chim – cheap to buy, fantastic looks (but then I've got one), more of a cruiser with the big boot etc, softer suspension (I think) – or that may be true of the earlier ones.

Griff – rare than the Chim so a bit more exclusivity, tiny boot, more direct handling, slightly more expensive to buy than the Chim.

Cerb – evil looking (the best looking TVR IMO), tremendous road presence, best performance this side of 100k supercar, rare on the roads (unless you're in Surrey/Hants ). *Can* be costly to maintain depending on vehicle.

Tuscan – as for the Cerb – others will say more about this and the Tamopra as I don't have sufficient knowledge to talk about them. Tuscan beats Tamora for looks IMO, but loses out in every other dept if you listen to the owners on here.

Your call!

Guess it depends on what you mean by sensible David. We have a 4.0l Chimaera and it gets used everyday.
Insurance is resonable, reliability is great. It acts as a top down cruiser, roof-up tourer, shopping trolley, comfortable rocket - what more could a chap ask for?

Ditto .Marks comments, I have had a 4.5 Chim for about 6 weeks now (not long I know) and for the sake of practicality I kept my 1.6 almera for the day to day 'sensible' stuff... However I am now thinking of selling the almera because I never drive it. The boot in the Chim is huge, I always do my shopping in it and it swallows a trolley and a half of shopping bags with ease, last night I drove a new computer round to a mates house - I got a monitor, and a PC case in the boot, and the other bits and pieces went in the passenger footwell. I use it all the time, and the only thing that makes this slightly less than sensible is that the petrol costs are a *little* steep. And of course wherever you end up you always have a less than sensible smile on your face!! Do it... you know you wanna!

How does driving a computer compare with driving a TVR?

Sorry, I'll get me coat....
