Every time I try to fill up with petrol the pump cuts out like it does when the tanks full.

My car (Bravo) shows about 1/4 full on the gauge and I know I have driven about 150 miles since the last successful refill,

What is happening? It has only just started happening, it's like the flow of fuel to the tank is blocked. It takes me about 15 minutes now to put about 20 quid worth of petrol in and I look like a knobhead at the at the station, as the pump cuts out every 50 p of petrol

Any ideas?

On the Chimaera you have to wiggle the nozzle around a bit until it goes in further (leave it!) and then it fills normally. Maybe yours is the same?

this is quite a common problem which has surfaced recently coinciding with the production of some unfortunately styled cars from our European cousins (notably the French and Italians)It seems fuel is reluctant to be associated with these eurobox mingers and my advise to you would be to sell/pex and buy something less offensive to the eye

the vent pipe will be blocked, so the air coiming out stops the fuel coming in. If it's plastic, the tube may simply have twisted.

Yup, Petrol in the eye stops you seeing the 1/4 tank problem!

Thanks for the suggestions, will try some of them out next time I go to the petrol station, if I can make it that is!

Apache: Thanks for the words of advice, the Bravo is just my temporary transport (honest), before I get the TVR and then driving the 'eurobox" will be kept to a minimum, of course, to avoid ridicule

Sounds very much like the vent pipe is blocked to me, I have this problem with the Lotus, fortunatly sir Colin put filler caps on both sides of the car, both linked to the same tank, so by opening both, problem solved. Putting another filling cap on the other side of your car may be a little drastic though, so check the vent first
