Hi Rog,

Glad you're enjoying driving it.
I think it's one of the best handling Minis around, but then I'm a bit biased. with around 112bhp and it's low gearing it goes quite well too, doesn't it.
For those who don't know what we're on about, Rougeleo has been kind enough to let me keep my red 1964 Cooper 'S' Historic Rally Car in his workshop whilst I've been moving house, the only condition being that he takes it out and exercises it in the lanes every so often so that it doesn't feel neglected.

Peter

Very trusting of you, although exchange is no robbery, right ??

I let a friend drive my car on a trackday earlier in the year, with me sat in the passenger seat....... in a way I think that's maybe worse !! It's not that some else drives badly, just different, brakes at a different point, turns in at a different time, you know the sort of thing, but it can be very nerve-wracking !!

Rog

You lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky.........
(you know the rest !!)

Phil.

My very best buddy is a guy named Bill Rogers. He and I used to fly aeroplanes together, then we discovered rallying and he got an 850 Mini (in 1961), He was thefirst person ever to rally in a red Mini with a white roof, but that's another story.
Bill has often driven my various cars on rallies with me navigating, our best result being a class win and 8th overall on the 1990 Belgian International Historic in a 1071 'S' which I owned and prepared. That was a full-on special stage event on detailed pace notes. Bill now owns that car and keeps it at his home in California. I get to drive it/fix it when I visit him.
He has also driven the 1275 mentioned by Rougeleo and we got 5th overall on the 995 Targa Rustican Historic Rally in Wales, despite his hiting a bank and slightly bending a steering arm.
Also my other buddy, Cec Offley, drove the 1989 Pirelli Classic Marathon in a Mk 2 Cooper 'S' I owned at the time, and he succeeded in having a head on with a Fiat Truck whilst hurrying down a mountain pass in N. Italy. I was a bit broken!
Also, my son used to let me drive his 970 'S' on rallies before he sold it (it was too bloody slow!).
It's all part of the rallying game.
