Consumer Advice Needed - Canyon Spectral AL

I visited Canyon Bikes showroom a couple of days ago to look at the Spectral AL, intention was to buy a 6.0 http://m.canyon.com/_en/details.html?bike_id=3255 as it would probably be sufficient for my riding abilities, whilst in the shop SWMBO suggested I treat myself and go for the top spec'd 9.0 http://m.canyon.com/_en/details.html?bike_id=3251 now, I can see the additional £1200 in components is probably good value but I am wondering if I should be tempted by all that bling or put my sensible head on, buy the cheaper bike and upgrade as and when.

I need your advice...

Buy the 9. And a handbag / shoes.

I'd go for the £170 cheaper EX as it has Rockshox suspension and 1x11 but it depends on the type of riding you're doing.

Or buy the cheaper one and sell the fork unused and fit a pike/revelation.

The EX isn't available in my size and talking to the guys at Canyon is designed/spec'd more towards downhill which isn't what I'll be doing a lot of so the others seem more suitable - I've heard mixed reviews on 2014 Fox forks, are RS's a lot better? Or are you just referring to the floats on the lower end bike?

There isn't one, I'm making my way through Germany at the moment so popped in, it's like the Apple store but with bikes..

I had the Fox 34 CTD Kashima forks and they were not as good as the floats with fit damper on my '12 Nerve . I've now got a Pike and it's a massive improvement, Revelations also get good reviews so I would opt for Rockshox forks over Fox at the moment.

I just went on the Canyon Site and they have made the 2015 range available, I was going to order the 6.0 and upgrade it a little from stock but they had sold out of my size since I last looked - so a 2015 7.0 EX with Pikes in Stealth Black is on order, slightly longer than the bike I test rode but only by a few mm so hopefully it'll feel pretty much the same....

A bit of a longer wait, should be here by end of October...
