Good question. 282K miles out of my Boxster engine running the stock Porsche engine air filter, just changing it once in a while. How could an aftermarket filter any better? And if it flowed more air it could filter worse.
Then there is the goofy clean, and re-oil ritual.
I'd rather pound my head with the sharp side of a claw hammer than mess with a filter any more than to remove the dirty one, toss it, and fit a new fresh clean filter.

Seriously though, it's had the K&N induction kit for years now, no hassle, works great, no MAF issues, no filters to buy or dispose of (must be better for the polar bears as well as one's wallet), but most of all it sounds

Believe it or not thats why i asked the question,,,,,,
