A few more of Bella. She has settled really well, loves a cuddle and is eating very well!!



As she is going to be on a boat a lot of the time she will be wearing a jacket for a while, she does not look impressed!!

So Bella the Fierce Boxer was joined by Willow “The Pillow” (rehomed) at Christmas and they are best of buddies.



Unfortunately Bella was diagnosed with a progressive kidney disease last week and will only be with us for a little while longer. We have been assured that she is not in pain and continues to have the superb life that she is used too. The vets has prescribed a very low protein mush that may prolong her life for a while but nobody can give a time-frame unless we have a biopsy to determine exactly what the disease is (it could be a few different variations). Because this is quite invasive and it will not change the outcome we have decided against it.
We have also decided against the special diet, she is fed raw, which we will change a little but she will continue on the scoff that she adores as opposed to the prescribed diet that she doesn’t. Our thoughts on this are again about quality of her now shorter life?

So our beautiful, fierce, soppy, slightly simple puppy will continue just as she is until it is time to say goodbye.

Raw meat tends to have less proteins in any event so may help substantively with her kidneys. Fingers crossed for her.

Yep I'd agree definitely stick with the raw, though I believe salt can be a bit high in raw so.maybe something to consider. You should speak to a complimentary vet for advice on that. I know an excellent one should you want to enquire (would be worth it as getting diet right is critical in reducing strain on kidneys)

Do they think this is hereditary/ congenital as it is not a condition we associate with boxers. What have they done so far?
