New Member says "Hi"
Discussion
I’m a relatively new member to PH.com and these forums, so I guess I should start by saying “Hello”.
I, like the rest of you guys & girls (Best to keep it politically correct these days) am passionate about cars, all types of cars. But, none more so than the ones wearing the prancing horse. I love everything about Ferraris, the looks, the sound, the speed, the history. Everything !!!
Although I’m not in a position to own one, it doesn’t stop me dreaming of the day I actually pick one up. I know this sounds crazy, but I’ve even been know to do a 40 mile round trip on more than one occasion to the Ferrari dealership in Wilmslow just to stand and stare in the window – people think I’m mad. I’d say I was obsessed.
I’m lucky enough to live in a posh area of Cheshire, and there are plenty of Ferraris knocking around this area of the woods. Do any of them belong to you? I’ve seen F335’s, 360’s, one 550, and last but by no means least was one F40. (nearly crashed my own car watching this go by).
Anyway, there is a point to all this rambling on. I am considering joining the FOC, and I’d like to know a little bit more about it. What can I expect as a none Ferrari owning member etc? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
I also want to do one of those Ferrari driving days, but seeing as there are so many, I was wondering which one was best? (i.e. most time behind the wheel, decent selection of cars etc.)
That’s all folks!!!!

Hi Jason,
Hope you have fun here! Regarding the FOC, the entry fee is quite high- you have to own or have owned a Ferrari... However, you can join something called the "Prancing Horse Register" which gives you access to most of the activities and keeps you in the loop www.ferrariownersclub.co.uk/phr/index.asp
Perhaps the biggest reason to join is to go along to help out at track days. They are always looking for volunteers, and it is usual to give passenger rides to PHR members at these. I got chatting to a PHR member at a petrol station a while ago, and he told me how he'd been in an F50, a couple of F40s, a Daytona, several 360s etc. Seems a pretty good deal to me.
There are sure to be PH members in your area who can give you a Ferrari fix. If not, then if you can make it as far south as Hatfield, myself or another PHer in this area can oblige. Several of us here like Hatfield!
Another link you might enjoy: www.ferrarichat.com
Cheers

Thanks for your replies and your very very generous offers. You never know, one day I might suprise you and take you up on them
Kevin:
Sounds like the "Prancing Horse Register" is the sort of thing I'm after, and will look into joining asap. Do you know if any of their Track Days are held at Oulton Park ?
Manu:
Wilmslow is indeed "Supercar Heaven". A couple of months ago I was driving through the town centre, past one of the really trendy pubs. Not 1, not 2, but 3 Diablos were indicating to pull out onto the main road. Being the kind, caring person I am I let them out. Each of the drivers obliged by lighting up the rears, covering me in a cloud of brunt rubber - Excellent

Don't know about Oulton Park Jason. I've mislaid the events calender that I printed off the FOC website some time ago and couldn't find it listed when I checked the website earlier today. You could get this info from PHR/FOC, and as track days are often organised by a dealership, you could ask your local dealer.
Have fun!
