South Wales to Luton morning rush hour

Gents,

Need to be in Luton for as close to 8am as possible coming from South East Wales (23a on M4).

Initially I thought M4 on to M25 on to M1 but that'd be a nightmare that time of the morning.

So I thought about doing this instead; https://www.google.co.uk/maps/dir/Magor,+Monmouths... (M4 to Swindon up to Oxford then cross country). It's a tad longer but hoping it'd be quicker as avoiding the rancid M25.

Anyone think this is OK, or have a better route in mind?

Gloucester,Tewkesbury,Evesham,Stratford, Coventry, on to the M45 and south on the M1. It's a long way around for a short cut but you should be able to do it without much bother.
