No offence guys - I DO understand the appeal of convertibles but get a hard top and don't ruin the lines of the 993. - it has been said before and I'll say it again - Cabs are for girls.

Agree with the girl bit, agree with the ruining lines bit and all cabs will scuttle shake unless they're properly built to be that way (ie: Caterham, TVR etc)

What I'm trying to say is get the coupe.

Get the coupe. Better handling and resale, plus scrote proof roof.

....nah cabs are fine, quite clearly a lot of people on this chat group feel their sexuality is in conflict so are forced in to a coupe.

having owned both my rationale for choosing a coupe last time round was that it supposedly more of a 'drivers tool', lighter, faster and better handling.

Truth is its difficult to insure any 50k plus car for track day use, and those are pretty much the only conditions you would notice the lower weight or handling bonus of the coupe.

Buy want you want, I think the coupes look a bit better with the classic glassline, but then you can hear the engine much better with a drop top and enjoy the summer weather, or going for a more leisurely drive.

Personally I cant tell much difference between my old 996 coupe and new cab handling or performance wise. If fact hardtop on or roof up, it feels exactly like the old coupe but with the volume of the engine doubled.

Fair play bennno. I used to have a 944 cabrio years ago, and I must admit that I quite enjoyed my days as a hairdresser

993 cabrio?
Bit cobbled together-looking when up, I agree.
When down, however, fabulous.
You may well need a Vidal Sasoon Expressair 60 on the passenger seat but will you give a toss? Er, no.
Get it and be happy with/proud of your orientation!

As you may have gathered from other posts i'm an internal play boy and do a fine line in exotic ladies I'm sure I could lend you a couple to stick in the front to distract pedestrians from the fact that you are driving Cindy’s car

thats because a 944 is a poofs car, any 911 is far more macho even with a drop top

Hey Benno, I has (and was proud of) a purple 968 cab with 'raspberry' leather interior - it may have been the biggest lasses motor this side of an MGF but the gals loved it. Never had it so good. and they certainly don't get as wet over the 993.

Domster likes to pretend he's Magnum PI at the weekends and is working on the mooootash too, he couldn't afford a Furry-arsei so had to make do with the 944.........which I subsequently bought off him and torched on the drive within two weeks...

lpro1...getting back to your original question, no, the scuttle shake is barely noticeable and far better than the crop of chopped-off saloons out there (E34 3 series in particular). all 911 convs have been designed as such from scratch. image aside () lovely car....

hark, somebody else whom buys cars based on what other people think...shame

As earlier both are superb driving cars, with one you get the classic look, with the other you get wind in the hair motoring.

Benno - I'm only pulling your leg mate!!! - The weather over the weekend made the appeal of a drop top undeniable.

Had to somewhat hurriedly sell my rosso Ferrari 550..... so I now drive assorted vans, Volvos and Peugeot Estates....

The weather over the weekend made me want aircon in the house! It was sooo bloody stuffy and humid. 993 coupe looks the nuts, but the 993 cab looks like a pram. 996 '02 cab look much neater.

Bloke at work has a 355 spyder. Car looks cool, but his balding head popping out buggers things up a tad.
