How buys ex chav cars???

I allways thought that they sold them between them selfs?!

But yesterday i saw a white M reg highly modified corsa making a bad attempt at parrallel parking. When i looked closer the person driving it was going on 80.

It was the funniest thing ive seen for ages.

Anyone else experienced this??

Seen it many a time It seems that the older generation seem to think that someone spending tons of many glueing plastic tat to their car is the same as someone who takes care of their car and maintains it well.

Oh then theres my situation - my lancia packed up and i needed new transport within a weekend, for less than 500 quid, in easy distance to get to. The choices were a severely battered citroen ax and a less severely battered renault 5, complete with sporting seat covers, motorsport sill protector stickers, and a cruizin is not a crime sticker in the window, and max power stickers on the seatbelt receptacles.

So it's got all the important stuff like the alloys and thr type of front bumper.

I'm glad they only missed off the minor details like the mileage, number of owners, engine size, etc.

Why oh why oh why oh why do people do it? Have they never heard the phrase "you can't polish a turd?"

There's a Renault 5 around here, which is well advanced in its age related weight loss program (aka rusting away to nothing), with a set of exceptionally dodgy "alloy wheel look" wheel trims on it, and......

a 5" slash cut exhaust. Seriously, this thing would be very at home sticking out of the back of a Skyline or something like that. Why do they do it? Why not save the money and buy a decent car, and modify that?

I have no problem with people modifying cars, or anything like that. Just some of them you have to wonder why they bother

I can understand the maxers...

1.0litre car = cheap insurance

They feel the need to be individual so go about sticking bodykits and various parts on their cars. It makes a standard shopping car look individual.

They love their cars... we have no reason to comment.

But as soon as you start adding bits your insurance goes sky high anyway, no-matter what engine you have in there.
To the insurance company body kits etc = boy racer = insurance claim against said boy racer.

Fair enough.

I'm just going on the basis on when i was at school and nearly every student that drove wanted to tart their car up in some description.

I didn't! (before any accusations! )

I think there's a line between those who are interested in cars and those who are interested in "car image"... it goes for females as well as males... one type could happily converse with you the common boyracer makes and models and all the manufacturers of aftermarket add-ons but would be at a complete loss to describe how much of it works and exactly how each part contributes to increasing the performance of the car.... the second wouldn't have a clue what a "buddyclub front bumper" is, wouldn't care what a "bad boy bonnet" is, but would happily be able to discuss appropriate levels of negative camber to run for the best all-round setup for spirited road driving.

Did any one else notice the colour change in the ad pics? I think in real life its 'undercoat'grey, many of the pics have had a blue rinse-presumably to make it look metalic blue/remotely desireable.

Go to ebay home page
Click on 'ebay Motors'
You'll then see a list of car manufacturers
Click on 'See all brands'
At the very bottom of the list click on 'others'

You'll find some interesting stuff on there !

Many maxxers treat their cars as pieces of (Elizabeth Duke) jewellry which is why they're all show and no go. The seller of the ebay nova didn't even put down the engine size or the mileage in the spec! Obviously a real car enthusiast

This car would be an ideal first car or ideal for some one who wants a modified motor without the £1000's of pounds of the cost of building their own!

Well worth the money he spent on it, then? Well bugger me backwards with a blunt market vegetable, it's worth... the same as a standard Nova shit box.

Yep, I can understand car enthusiasts as well, even if they are lacking in taste.(relative to my opinion of what is good taste).

I reckon that they brighten up the roads. I modify cars to go bloody fast, I just happen to use 60's classics as starting points. The worst thing I can think about is having a car I would not be allowed to modify.

If I had a spangly supercar. I would do the work on it myself, if the engine had to come out, I would probably do some porting, etc, etc. There is always room for improvement on any car. "Chavs" are merely skint, lack taste but they are getting there. In my opinion, that is better than someone who hasn't started.

So, what "Out of the box" car do you all drive, as you can't understand the mentality of these folks?
