997.1 - Porsche Sports exhaust question.
Discussion
Anyone got one? The PSE option with the button on the dash.
Question is - does the light on the button mean the sports exhaust is Off, or On?
I'm thinking the light means "silenced". Because if you have the light off, but boot it up to about 40mph, it comes back on again which I believe is to stop you being a Hooligan in areas of low noise.
Also - in your experience can you noticably tell the difference between on and off? I can't tell at all!
Thanks :-)

Early 997.1's light ON is exhaust OFF (quiet)
Later 997.1's light ON is exhaust ON (loud)
Lift the rear lid, locate the solenoid valve with the brown connector near the RH intake manifold if you disconnect the plug with the engine running then the exhaust should instantly get louder. If not; pull the vacuum pipes from the solenoid and note any change (the valves are known to fail). If the exhaust still remains quiet then you may have a seized actuator or actuators or a blockage in the vacuum pipes (the actuators can perish and the diaphragm valve can get pulled into the pipework effectively blocking it).
If the exhaust is loud all the time the same location will apply but look for lack of vacuum, a failed solenoid or leaks in the pipework
