Might not be something you want to attempt yourself, unless you're well up on ICE stuff...
Best bet is to go for one of the modular systems that Pioneer and Alpine offer, i.e. separate screen and CD/DVD box as they are ultimately more upgradeable than the in-dash solutions.
Overall the accuraccy of them IS improving, but they take time to get used to. Best bet is to pop along to an Alpine or Pioneer dealer and have a go... but personally I'd stick to these two manufacturers... but that's partly becuase I did work on Sat Nav for quite a while.
