Brazil
Belgium
Argentina
Costa Rica
France
Germany
Holland
Columbia

And how would Manchester United in their prime or Real Madrid fare against them?

If you think that Costa Rica would've got through against some of the other European non-qualifiers (Sweden, Serbia etc) then no. However, as this is a Cup not a league, and given that the team of the last decade were humbled similarly to England, then you have to say yes- who's better? As for MUFC / Real they'd be crap as all their best players would be away on international duty!

always held the belief that international football is massively inferior to the highest level club football.Teamns are picking from the best players in their country for internationals, top clubs are picking from the best players in the world.Spain of the last 6 years are rightly lauded as the best international team certainly of the modern era,is that spain team better than the barca team of 3-4 years back ? not even close.

Northern Europe vs South America.

Manure of last season would get smashed by all those teams!

They aren't comparable really to the top sides who train with each other day in/day out and can pick players to compliment their style. International tactics are often behind the club game too hence why the high pressing attack minded Bielsa-esque game has hit at this world cup rather than 4 years ago. 9Although he was in charge of Chile before)

Having said that the Spain side of 4-6 years ago would have given most teams a run for their money (in my opinion)

Haha I was going to post that.

Clearly the 8 who are still in the cup are not strictly the most talented but the ones with a combination of desire/skill/luck
