Putting to one side your excitable foreigners...GOOOAAAALLLL!

I'd go with Danny Murphy & Pat Nevin for me. Murphy no nonsense, quite insightful, gets brevity well. Pat Nevin good at painting pictures which is what it should be on radio & also gets a bit carried away on occasions & makes odd guttural noises which are highly entertaining.

My worst is Chiles, just a disaster on every level from the faux mateyness to the awful gaggery & lowest common denominator patronising schtick, closely followed by Andy Townsend - the undisputed master of the bleedin' obvious. We know it was a terrible foul, Andy, it's T.V. we can see it with our own eyes - how about a little insight? Not a chance.

Agree with Chiles. The worst bit sat in their shorts on the beach the other day looked very uncomfortable.

Alan Green is ok.

I'd take the BBC presenters, commentators and pundits over anything ITV have to offer. BBC just seem comfortable, slick, professional.

ITV always seems to be the poor mans version.

Brad Friedel is probably the best co-commentator I've heard out there. Murphy is also very good.

Can't fking stick the entirety of the ITV coverage, except perhaps Strachan.

Agree completely. Love Danny Murphy, I actually don't mind Lawro either. And the commentators such as Simon Brotherton, Guy Mowbray and Steve Wilson are all better than Clive Tyldesley.

ITV are a bloody disaster where football coverage is concerned. Chiles and Townsend shouldn't be allowed anywhere near football ever again.

The ITV bunch aren't worth mentioning, they're all st. Danny Murphy has been great, I liked listening to Thierry Henry's punditry... scratchchin Ferdinand isn't bad or good IMO, he's just there.

This is a great sideways look at the commentators this world cup.

Danny Murphy sounds just like big Ron to me.

I keep thinking that big Ron is back, but i know he's being a rock & a shoulder to cry on for a fellow in Uruguay .

Rio Ferdinand hasn't been so bad. He's flat on telly, but he's recent enough to relate to players involved & that's quite insightful, which I guess is why ITV have him on.

Very true. Townsend is shocking. Been very impressed with Murphy especially covering tonight's game.

Who in ITV decided that Canavaro was a good pundit? The guy struggles with English. And why do Itv start on the beach, then go to the Studio for halftime. Just seems odd with them in shorts and sandals

The only other disappointment of the WC this year other than England being dismal was that ITV are presenting half of it. That means Adrian Chiles......not good news.

The best? I like Danny Murphy and personally still enjoy listening to Shearer as nine times out of ten, if I'm thinking something during the game, it's him that says it in the studio! Quite enjoyed listen to Henry too, though this best part so far has been watching Martin O'Neil take him and Seedorf to pieces at half time hehe

Conor MacNamara and Pat Nevin make a great "Celts Together" double act.

Alan Shearer - he's just terrible. Says nothing a mate in the pub wouldn't.

Jonathan Pearce shouldn't even be allowed back to Robot Wars after this tournament. When Martin Keown is the brains of the outfit, you know you're fked.

I like Danny Murphy too. None of this pretentious "Eddin Azarrrr" crap, it's "Eden Hazard" with him.

I'm just thankful that Peter Drury is no longer with ITV. He's another pant wetter like Jonathan Pearce & I can't stand either of them.

Agree 100% with this, was saying this only yesterday to a colleague. Been a big fan on Nevin's analysis he does on the BBC website for a while.

I also really like Mowbray's commentary.

Shearer - Mr Hindisght..never says anything interesting and get the feeling the pieces he does over a video of moves from the game are very scripted.
Lineker - Been a great link man and miles better than Chiles.
Ian Wright - Awful
Townsend - awful
Ferdinand, Henry and Seedorf - all excellent and Ferdinand has surprised me there.
Savage - Surely they can do better ?!
Dixon - Good in the studio...not so good on commentary
O'Neill - quite like him. Loved when he had a joking pop at Vieira about who had won the European Cup.
Keown - like his insight
Hoddle- quite like him...gets very technical.
Waddle- Not a fan.
