Drivers door not opening sometimes
Discussion
Hi All.As the title says. Sometimes I'm having a problem getting the drivers door open. Press the button on the mirror, nothing happens for what seems ages.Press it again it opens OK. but next time same problem. It always opens from the inside OK. Any hints would be appreciated. If you would prefer to email me.Please mail to narrowboater53@googlemail.com Not the address listed in my details on here.

Hi Dave,Thanks Dave
It sounds like it's the button under the mirror, if it always works ok from inside the vehicle then the fault is not with the solenoid. I had a similar issue when i had my Chimaera, changing the button under the wing mirror resolved it.

Had the problem myself a few weeks back, where door button on drivers mirror would work sometimes, and sometimes not. Turned out to be plug connector on door control unit and the solution a little spray with WD40.
The door control units are located under the rear of the centre console and are both identical. I swapped them over and sprayed WD40 to the connectors on each. The reason behind swapping them over was that if the drivers side door control unit was faulty that by swapping them then the fault would then change to the passenger side. Anyway problem fixed with no further diagnosis.
Please note that after messing about with the door control units that they need to lay in the same position as you found them so observe where they are sitting and how the wires sit, as otherwise getting the centre console to fit flush again not easy.
Another likely issue is the connector within the door for the door opener. Had this on my cerb. Anyway easy to get to on a tuscan. Simply remove 2 / 3 alan screws in door pocket and panel can easily be removed.
It is less likely to be the door button than either of the above in my opinion, unless the door button feels faulty ie needs pressure to work, or needs to be pressed in a certain way.

Mine had similar problem recently and that did turn out to be the button itself after I'd spent ages changing the in-door loom connector to a water resistant one as the pins were corroded on the originlal one. I couldn't figure how to take the button out without damaging the mirror glass and couldn't get a conclusive permanent open cicuit on the loom with the button depressed on a multimeter so added it to some other work when it was in Mole Valley. It performs perfectly now so it must have been the button. Now annoyingly it's started on the passenger door
