If you have a good healthy engine nearly nothing.
0.5 Liter per 1000 mls is ok
if you need 1 liter per 1000 mls you should have a talk with Dom from TVR Powers.

But also depends on how much beans you give.

Gordon, It's always interesting how much oil you pay for on a service smile .

Getting it all out isn't easy, disconnect all pipes and tilt the car.

The dipstick on mine is next to useless.

What would happen if the S6 (or any other engine for that matter) was overfilled with oil?

Overfilled with oil
PS Just looked at my last service bill ... 9 litres of oil Semi Synth ... which was with all hoses and oil cooler disconnected, and thought it was a little high on the dipstick when I checked it myself .. So Heath got a bking smile .

The S6 is ok up to half a litre or so over. It's dry sumped so less sensitive as the extra sits in the oil tank not the sump being churned by the crank.

I know I'm being a numpty here but what's actually failed on that Sagaris to make it smoke like that?

What does oil overfill actually make fail inside the engine?

Nothings failed. The oil has been expelled into the air box under hard cornering, and has been burnt as it has entered the combustion chamber.

Youd need to have significantly overfilled and be cornering extremely hard for oil to make it into the airbox. Ive filled mine to max on cold and checked it when hot and it was no where near venting out of the tank and into the airbox. This is a tuscan though, i cant remember if the tanks differ between that and the sagaris.

Still need to be careful with this because as the lube oil is sucked into the combustion chamber from the airbox and mixes with the petrol it significantly lowers the octane. The result can be detonation which ain't good!
