How smooth should PDK shifts be?
Discussion
I have a 2012 Cayman R with PDK. Most of the time, even in sports mode, the gear changes are very smooth. When starting from cold however the shift from 1st to 2nd produces a slight thump. I assume that the clutches are of the wet multi-plate type and the thump is caused by them dragging slightly from cold. Anyone with a motorbike will be familiar with this symptom.
The car has 12k miles on it, and I've only had it for about 6, and as such I'm just slowly getting to know all its foibles. So would the collective PH wisdom say that this is normal, or is it an indication of something expensive starting to go wrong?
