I am looking at fitting a bespoke sports exhaust including cats and muffler, the company I am looking at in Leeds recommend 200 cell cats and the muffler will give a good sound and power increase, all in s/s of course with a lifetime guarantee.

I have also spoken to an indy and they say do not replace the cats as they are likely to blow through in a little over 12-18 months and could end up with engine management light problems and subsequently MOT issues.

Any advice or recommendations, indy say stick with a Dansk muffler and all will be good, little power increase but that is not reason for the change.

I have manifolds, sports cats and a Carnewal exhaust on my car. Click the boxa.net link in my profile and there is a static video clip of my car.

I do have the CEL light on on my car and have tried the lambda spacers with no real luck so far. I have a code/scan tool and whenever the light bothers me I just read off the code and clear it. Mine are 100cell cermaic cats.

Will I have the same problem with 200 cell cats and what about blowing them out after 12-18 months as mentioned by the indy.

I'm not bothered by the cel as when I finish my next round of mods I intend to have it remapped and the rear lambdas mapped out. My cats only cost me £100 and I still have the old ones too but they seem to be holding up ok.

A little bit of extra power is nice but you are going to have to do more than just cats and exhaust to feel any real difference. If you just want a better sound forget the cats.

Thanks, sound is the main reason for an upgrade anyway.
