What a great weekend!
Good course, amazing weather and superbly organised.

Very, very tired today.

A mate of mine went, I text him last night to see how he got on, his response was 'I feel like i've been butt-f@!$£d by Linford Christie'

His team came 4th in the open category apparently. Seems like too much hard work to me.

Yep I went in a team of four. Brilliant event. Great course. Driving home yesterday took a few stops though.

During the night was great and in the woods during the day. But when you were on the open grass sections it was brutal. HOT!!!!!!

Did it a few years back. Rained 80% of the race and was awful with people literally sat sobbing by the side of the track as they'd fallen off yet again or ripped the rear mech off as it had clogged with mud.

Must have been lovely to do it in nice weather.

A 24hr race and lovely do not belong in the same sentence!
(had 2 mates doing 24hr solo's. In 2 words. fook that!)

Least the weather was half sensible as you say though! (tempted to do a 12hr solo at some point next year : only done them in teams / pairs at the moment)

It's all relative. My mates view on it after his first lap: "I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than do that st again".

I think whichever way you come at it, 24hr racing is ace.

If you are racing, then you get loads of track time and lots of people to compete against.
Or, if you are there with your mates then its social and fun. A chance to heckle, have a few drinks and enjoy a few fun laps.

I've done both and love both. The weather made a difference though, without a doubt.

I was there it was a cracking event, loved it. Finished 17th in the open male teams of four, very pleased with that. The drive home was brutal, stopped and snoozed at one motorway services then the M5 was stood still so snoozed again. So pleased i booked today off work. The night laps were amazing, not really done much night riding, so riding at the same pace in the dark was just exhilarating. Can't wait to ride another event like that, much friendlier than normal xc racing, but felt totally spanked at the end of it, never has an ice cream tasted so good.

If only the weather was always as kind. I've done it twice but swore that after the absolute bog fest of Mayhem 2012 that it would be my last. My bike was fked and my clothes, tent and house stunk for weeks aferwards!

I recall a lap taking close to 2 hours compared with 1 hour when it was drier.

It moved in 2013 and is supposed to be more tolerant of poor weather.

I was there, but purely for spectating & the social side. Catching up with old friends from the Malverns days in the early 90s. Had a great weekend, great weather but the heat must've been brutal for you riders :-O

Came 10th in the solo cat. 25 laps, bloody hard work but good fun. Was rather hilly though wasn't it...

Nice effort!
Overall on the lap the climbing figure wasn't too bad for the distance, but it did seem like all the tough climbs were rammed in at the end of the lap. It was ace up until the lake, then you realised there were 3 climbs and they were all steep!
