Can someone pm me the secret method of boot entry?
No noise from the solenoid and typically need fuel and to put the roof back on!
What fuse feeds the boot solenoid as it is not obvious on the fuse layout?
TIA

If you open the passenger door from inside this will sometimes reset/energise the boot solenoid. Don't understand why but learnt the hard way at French customs trying to explain why I couldn't show them what was in the boot...

Thanks Nick
Just tried the boot again and it's working fine now - just weird!
Can it overheat - is there some kind of thermal cut out in the circuit?
Very strange

Maybe you should check the loom from the button to the solenoid. On mine the boot lid was removed some time in it's life and therefore they clipped the loom. Then someone did a botch job by just putting it together with tape. At some point there was a bad connection and the boot didn't open.

The other thing to remember, is stuff on the 'shelf' immediately to the LEFT of the instrument pod.
Heavy'ish items can move/be thrown onto the button (flashing green(?) led) which disables all the opening solenoids. Believe it was an anti car-jack panic button?

Guess how I found this out? A couple of CD's were enough to press the button on my car!

Maybe the switch isn't making properly when you press the boot badge.

Had reverse problem on mine where boot would pop open open when i went over bumps. Maybe try tightening boot badge nuts slightly which are easily accessible through a little removable panel in boot.

my boot failed and it was just the button itself underneath the badge. when you open the boot using the secret method you can take the large round rubber caps out of the wall of the boot and get your hand in to undo the bolts holding on the badge. The just bridge the wires before the button and if the boot release works then its the button and not the wiring. Bought a new button for £10 and swapped it over with the old button and now its fine.
