trouble with my gearstick
Discussion
Mine came off in my hand. Below that next rubber gaiter is the ball at the end of the stick that fits into the socket on top of the gearbox housing. It is held in place by three lugs. In my case one lug had broken off allowing the ball to pull out of the socket. You may have a similar issue. As said below the grub screw is the easier option.

The "gears tick" screws onto a threaded stub on the larger diameter collar with the reverse light switch actuating bar attached. If you look at picture, the stub is bonded in with the rubber within the collar.
The whole assembly (gears tick and collar) then fits over a stub on the linkage as a sliding fit. The collar has a 3 mm Allen grub screw on the back half (roughly at 6 o-clock). The grub screw pinches the assy onto the stub and allows adjustment so that the striker hits the reverse light switch correctly.

Did this fix work? Mines was doing exactly the same, tightened it and it was ok for a while but eventually worked loose again. Locktite needed maybe?
I would be wary about putting locktight on something which by the sounds of it is difficult to access, could cause a real issue if you ever need to remove it to get the gearbox out...THREEFISHORANGE said:
Well thanks for all the info guys. It was the grub screw on the bottom of the lever. All set now, so the reverse light when engaged actually comes on now! Cheers
I had the same problem with my Tamora - I only noticed after fitting a reverse camera. The gearstick/actuating lever has moved again, twice since re-tightening the grub screw. The only way to fix this was to buy a new grub screw and threadlock. It hasn't moved since.
Crap design, though...
