Top mount or something else? GT3 996.2 with 40k
The knocking sound comes and goes. Some journeys I won't hear it for days, then sometimes while coasting stuck in traffic it's loud, as you hear in the link. Drivers side front. Hope the link works, it's the first vid I've ever put on You Tube.

Damper rod bushes failing.
Top mount spherical bearing worn.
Anti roll bar drop links worn.
Coffin arm inner bushes dry.

Or any combination of the above.

Got to agree with Slippydiff.

Arrange to get the car to a highly regarded Porsche shop and on a lift. The tech then can check all the suspension/steering/drivetrain hardware for something worn out or loose.

The problem is, it only happens a few times, and PARR have had a look once, and said it MIGHT be the top mount. Sounds like a can of worms to me lol

My 96.1GT3 had these symptoms. Turned out to be top mount bearings - unusually for a GT3 these items are relatively cheap to replace; so you may escape the dreaded £10k refresh for another season...
