Hi, after having owned Tuscans for 13 years and my last one for 9, I've finally decided I need to try something different :

str8six have got my car now, I'm sure they'll be advertising shortly. My TVRs have been great fun and the community (TOG on Yahoo back in the day and Pistonheads) have been a great source of support. I'll be one of the first to test drive Les' new cars so who knows what the future holds!

Initial comparison : from the first drive I thought the F430 was quite TVR like, so I immediately bonded
. Not too refined (although slightly more) and really totally focussed on speed, nice and loud! As a mid-engined car with different weight distribution the steering is lighter and it pivots easily, but the damping is much better which is the biggest performance gain. The engine is strong with low down torque, although this could be the shorter gearing having an effect as well, maybe slightly faster in a straight line. The throttle repsonse isn't quite as precise as a speed 6 (electronics/emissions I suspect) and the gear change takes a little more care (cable shift to rear of car) so you don't get baulked - but the Tuscan is excellent in both these areas, the speed 6 is an outstanding engine for character and control. Brakes are comparable, both excellent with a firm pedal from the top, lots of feel. My Tuscan was lowered slightly, lower than the F430 but its nose is longer so you have to take more care over speed bumps and in particular driving on to and off of inclines. Space wise decent size boot (smaller than Tuscan) but also room behind seats, so fairly practical. Good enough for a camping trip to Le Mans for two for 4 days.
Oh, and the Ferrari gets even more attention, so far all of it very positive, which was a nice surprise!
