I stupidly booked a week in the canaries from the 19th - 26th of this month, forgetting the world cup was on.

My experience with places like this is they only really have a tv in the hotel room.

whilst for me this wouldn't be a problem to sit on holiday watching the games in the room the o/h might have something to say about this, she kicked off last night about it.

plan was to watch the games during the day the day after whilst we are sat at the pool.

can you get bbc I player abroad or itv player?

or is there a way I can watch these games 12 hours later

You'll need a VPN to connect back home for iPlayer/ITV player.

Why not watch games in a bar like everyone else?

Would you like me to help cut up the food on your dinner plate too?!!

There is nothing better than watching football abroad with possibly fans of the opposition.
Get yourself out of the hotel and have some banter with the locals.

its a holiday with the other half. I doubt she wants to sit in the pubs in town watching the game on her holiday.

the resort most likely wont have the games on, so back to my original question how can I get them to watch online the day after as it will give me something to do other than read bike mags next to the pool

You think your hotel won't be showing THE WORLD CUP. Okay!

IF it is great but doubt it will.

better planning ahead than missing a lot of games.

to be honest a big bit for me is to kill time during the day

Every bar in every resort will have the footy on. You cannot get iplayer abroad not unless you can by dubious means. If you can then let me know

Call the hotel and ask if they are showing it? If you are taking a tablet or laptop get a trial of something like VyprVPN and use that and watch on iplayer etc you'll probably need a decent Wifi connection at the hotel though or pay a fortune in roaming charges.

Just go to a bar around the corner from the hotel for crying out loud!

If you're worried about spending money just buy a coke and nurse it for 90mins

If your dorris doesn't want to watch it just leave her by the pool with a copy of take a break or whatever it is they read.

Honestly I despair sometimes.

A VPN is a virtual private network. It allows your device to appear to be based in a UK ip address location.

Iplayer wont work abroad as you are not licensed to view BBC abroad. So the VPN creates a connection to a UK proxy server and this allows you to connect to the BBC as it thinks your 'local'.

There are companies providing this service to xpats, my mum has it, costs £5 a month. Or if you have your own UK based server you can set your own up (although I assume you havent got a server as nature of the question says you havent).

I want to watch all the games, whats hard to understand about this, im not going to fk off for 6 hours round about dinner time and the time we would be going out

watching the games the next day from 10 - 4 kills the boredom of being sat at the side of a pool
