Went to a Christies viewing of a few upcoming auctions today. Among them was the Maserati Boomerang, a concept car introduced in 1972.

Pete,

I'm afraid i'm not able to give much more information, due to there being none available at the viewing. I may have missed something, but a few other PHers were there who may be able to post more details. The car was towed to the showroom, not started at all. It had an engine although we were unable to gain access to it.

There is no mention on the Christies website and i believe the car is in the UK for a future auction, but not the same one as the rest of the cars at the viewing.

Doing a quick search on google shows up the following sites:

Indeed. Most of us were a tad gobsmacked when it came in.

The best part of the day was how we could have a good old look around all the cars. All the doors were unlocked so we could climb in, try it for size and generally have an experience you couldn't get at Goodwood or motorshows. I sat in a LeMans racer, a classic Ferrari... it was excellent. Free champers too!

There were even two young kids sitting in the boomerang playing with the steering wheel and sun visor. Great stuff!

This was in my top trumps in the early seventies.

As was the countach - but there was another car that will always staya with me - and the was the ferarri modulo - where, in order to gain access to the car, the whole top half of the car lifted up....

Saw this car at Retromobile in Paris a few years ago. Christie's were selling it there as well. Commission after commission- can't be bad. Super looking car but a tad impractical for street use. Get it AA checked at least !!!

Superb - I remember those top trumps! There was a thread on the Yesterday's Heroes section along the lines of "what started you off as a petrol head" and reading your post made me realise that for me it may well have been getting those very top trumps as a present!

Ahh, memories ... :-)
