Bruce Springsteen has loads:
'She's a hot-steppin' Hemi with a 4 on the floor, she's a Roadrunner engine in a '32 Ford' (Ramrod)
'I gotta '69 Chevy with a 396, fulie heads and a hurst on the floor' (Racing In The Street)
'Early New Jersey industrial skyline in an all-set Cobrajet creepin' through the night-time' (Open All Night)
and Whitesnake:
'You've got more style than a brand-new XJS' (Cheap 'n' Nasty)

In the context of PH the Screaming Blue Messiahs are a force to be reckoned with:
Big Brother Muscle
Big Brother Muscle's gonna drive me insane
got a timing chain running round in my brain
Got a 440 six-pack under my hood
Need a medicine-man to make me feel good... etc - whole song about the Dodge Challenger
and
Jesus Chrysler drives a Dodge (whole song on that theme too)
and (appropriately) a song called All Gassed Up
I'm all gassed up, I'm all gassed up,
I'm all gassed up and got nowhere to go
I took a little drive down the miracle mile
Cop looked at me with the cutest smile
said get on the floor pancake style
I'm gonna take you downtown to cool off for a while
I'm all gassed up, I'm all gassed up,
I'm all gassed up and got nowhere to go
I'm gonna be here for the rest of life
I'm gonna be here for the rest of life
I'm gonna be here for the rest of life

Other than car refs, the sheer artistry of The Mission's lyrics always strike me as something special, when Goth music had more in common with classical Gothic poetry than getting as many piercings as possible and pretending to drink blood:
Garden Of Delight (Hereafter)
"I see your dancing, laughing, naked, tender, sweet and pretty face, and the promise burning brightly in your crystal-shot eyes. Your savage and violent flesh, the cut that bleeds, the kiss that stings, the shooting stars and desperate snows that fall from shimmering skies.
So take my hand and lead me to the garden of delight, take my hand and lead me to the garden of delight.
Revelation is late, and reflects on the windswept liquid mirror. Of this breathless world, this happy death, such elegance and charm. The treasured and precious, feeling the touch of a gracious stranger, enchant me and entrance me, I know you can do me no harm.
So take my hand and lead me to the garden of delight, take my hand and lead me to the garden of delight.
We're playing with fire, dancing in the flames, and we're covered in burns that may never heal, and angels may come and angels my go
But it's heaven on earth when you take my hand and lead me to the garden of delight, so take my hand and lead me to the garden and lead me to the garden of delight.
Take my hand and lead me to the garden".
Proof that songs about sex don't have to be cheap and smutty or overtly raunchy. Garden Of Delight is one of my personal favourites.

similary: she sang shang a lang and ran with the gang
(Bay City Rollers C 1973)
I think it's interesting that the interpretation of song lyrics (especially the more abstract/ambiguous stuff) often reflects as much about the interpreter as the writer.
This is a song by the artist "SteppenWolf"- which isn't cool or fashionable to be into- but I like alot of his well thought out lyrics (when he's not doing his Pro-socialism-anti America rants)
None Of Your Doing
If I could show you where I've been
Perhaps you'd know and never ask again
Could I forget the things I've seen
Perhaps I'd smile and we would be the same
I can't return to where you're goin'
What I have learned, it can't be undone
Don't blame yourself, don't you know
It was none of your doin'
All my faith got caught in a maze
Lost our dreams in a far a way place
Now that I have seen you again
Can't believe your world's still the same
Sometimes I slip into the past
When life was sweet
I thought that it would always last
It was so easy to believe that all is well
They always catch the thief
I can't return to where you're goin'
What I have learned, it can't be undone
Don't blame yourself, don't you know
It was none of your doin'

how can you lie there & think of England when you don't even know who's in the team?
Billy Bragg Shirley (as the song was renamed)
Good call, 2SB...
One my favourites is:
You told him what he wants to hear
And so you got another chance
But I was yours for seven years
Is that what you call a dalliance?
Dalliance by The Wedding Present
im gonna buy me a old caddilac convertable in hot pink with whaleskin hubcaps,an all-leather cow interior and baby seal's eyes for headlamps.
...and im gonna drive that baby at 100 miles an hour, getting one mile to the gallon whilst sucking down mc donalds cheeseburgers from those old non-bio-degradable styrofoam containers, when im finished sucking down those greaseball burgers im gonna be tossing the containers right out the side and i'll wipe my mouth on the american flag and there aint a god-damn thing you can do about it!...you wanna know why?...cos weve got the bombs, thats why!....two words, nuclear
weapons,thats why!.

Dying swans twisted wings, beauty not needed here
Lost my love, lost my life, in this garden of fear
I have seen many things, in a lifetime alone
Mother love is no more, bring this savage back home
Wilderness house of pain, makes no sense of it all
Close this mind dull this brain, messiah before his fall
What you see is not real, those who know will not tell
All is lost sold your souls to this brave new world
Hmmm....

These are taken from a group of Scottish almost prog-rockers that created some of the best lyrics of all time, from their beast album see if can recognise these lyrics...
Do you remember chalk hearts melting on a playground wall
Do you remember dawn escapes from moon washed college halls
Do you remember the cherry blossom in the market square
Do you remember I thought it was confetti in our hair
By the way didn't I break your heart?
Please excuse me, I never meant to break your heart
So sorry, I never meant to break your heart
But you broke mine
Do you remember barefoot on the lawn with shooting stars
Do you remember loving on the floor in Belsize Park
Do you remember dancing in stilettoes in the snow
Do you remember you never understood I had to go
By the way, didn't I break your heart
Please excuse me, I never meant to break your heart
So sorry, I never meant to break your heart
But you broke mine
