Hi All

My dad's California just failed its MOT due to a buckled wheel (O/S Front).

Its currently being Serviced and MOT'd at a Ferrari dealership and they have quoted him £2,000 for the new wheel, geometry and alignment - they specifically said that £1,600 of that is for the wheel itself.

I thought that sounded about right but he thinks that seems a bit expensive, can any of you offer an opinion?

I can't find that alloy for sale online at all, hence why I'm posting here instead of googling!

For reference, it's 20" and is this style:

ATD Sportscars in Germany have one or two priced at under £800 and they will deliver to the UK.

I think Ferrari are quoting Ferrari prices for a job they will get done around the corner. A full geometry should not cost much more than £300 maximum, even with a rebalance of each wheel. I would buy a wheel online or phone around and take my business elsewhere.

Looks like that specific wheel is only 540EUR, or £440ish. Assuming they are genuine wheels I'd go for the above and save a grand.

I agree, that IS very expensive. Bear in mind though, that the Ferrari diagnostic machine will need hooking up after the geo to reset the steering angle sensor...

Being very pedantic:

No you're not being ripped off! - Your Father might be being ripped off, but you're not. (Unless your paying for the work to be done for him? scratchchin )

wink

I named the thread "Am I being ripped off" as I thought people would be more likely to click on it than if it was called "Is my dad being ripped off?"

Though, in retrospect I don't think it would have made a blind bit of difference!

I'm not paying for the wheel, but I do have to buy him a new windscreen wiper, after sticking my GoPro to the windscreen, it started to rain... The automatic wipers came on... And, well, yeah.

The new wheel costs about £ 1600 then a cost to mount it the tyre then the geo then the reset noted two grand inc vat is about right (and most F dealers can do this all in-house) - of course there are cheaper ways to do it but no the main dealer is not ripping your father off - there's a price list for parts and the various jobs

He bought a Ferrari. Did he really think it was going to be a cheap affair?

As above the cost of genuine alloy wheels new is crazy.
The dealership can't and won't get involved in fitting used parts from eBay.

Btw have you had a quote on the wiper yet ? My guess is £60 + vat :-)

Any other guess's without cheating ....

Thats about the ball park figure - for the drivers side.

About £45 + vat for the passenger side if I remember correctly (for an F430)

Thats for the same Bosch wipers I can get in Halfords for about a fiver with trade discount....

Passenger side wiper - £54.

I don't mind paying that! smile

My dads not had the best of luck so far... Broken wiper, buckled wheel, someone throwing a wet cement-like mixture over the car ruining most of the paintwork...

Here's to Ferrari ownership! beer

£500 for a new OEM wheel, £37 for an OEM wiper from Eurospares.
Check LHD / RHD as they show LHD diagrams which can result in an error ordering and they don't accept returns.

My local Infinti centre charges £66 inc VAT for Hunter laser alignment. My local Ferrari dealer doesn't have a Hunter laser alignment setup. Porsche next door do, and they charge £144.
