Last minute I am considering buying some walkie talkies for the Euro tour. Do any of you already have some and if so, what do you have have and would you recommend them?

Roger that.

Can't recall anyone using them on previous Euro Tours but I did go to Le Mans a few years back with an assorted bunch of TVR's (as a passenger), "walkie talkies" were very useful for keeping the group together (particularly through towns) and for having a bit of banter wink

OK great - I've just ordered four of these for delivery on Monday.

One for me, one for Si. Longers - would you like one? And one up for grabs...

Shame the range won't be enough to pick up the banter when we leave for France on the 7th.

Don't whatever you do, at the Chunnel crossing, tune into the French security channel and take the piss.
Speaking from experience, this is something that should definitely not be done. Nope. Definitely not. Ever. Again.

No sense of humour those French.....

They were equally un-impressed when a friend of mine decided to entertain the crowd at the return ferry terminal with a few "doughnuts" biggrin

Yes, just a little out of range on Monday shout

Awesome that you ordered some. That'll be 6 cars hooked up.

I've got a pair and so has BuzzIt - we used them a little last year but at speed they're tricky to operate and hear

will bring them along nonetheless

This is what my gang does for Le Mans trips:

1) Set up a free ToggleMobile account

2) Order the ToggleMobile sim

3) Generate your French number online

4) Share new French mobile numbers with the the gang

5) Chuck £10 of credit on each sim

6) Call & text your mates at will safe in the knowledge you're only paying local mobile rates.

I find £10 each is more than enough for a Le Mans trip, you get to use your own mobile phone and there are no walkie-talkie range issues.

ToggleMobile is cheap as chips meaning the inevitable getting lost or separated from the group is no longer an issue wink

Much better than walkie-talkies yes

You can buy cheap data too, so you're still fully connected to PistonHeads if that's your thing? rolleyes

As Max has said, Greg & Tim have a pair. They gave one to me and Roger when we were on our way somewhere (Spa I think?) and one of the quotes of the trip came from Greg... "Roger Roger" rofl Still makes me smile now hehe I think once we got above 40-50mph (which didn't take long!) they weren't much good but ok when stopped at junctions wondering which way to go wink

Excellent!

I had forgotten "what is our vector victor?"

And the captain putting it into gear.

Classic film!
