Tuscan Air con/heater fan

Folks I had my Aircon regassed yesterday in the faint hope that it would enable the Aircon to actually cool the interior of the car!
Its better, but still no where near mainstream cars.
The fan when its on full blast is somewhat...erratic! as in it blows then drops off then back up again almost as if its connected to the idling engine rpm.

My question is:

Is that the normal behavior of the Tuscans heater blower?
Is the Aircon in the Tuscan below par or should I be able to sit there in thermals and parka jacket whilst still being pleasantly cool?

I'm sort of hoping that the fan is on its way out so a replacement would solve all of my problems, but being TVR it cant possibly be that simple. Can it?

The fan speed should be consistent , possibly a problem with the heater ECU connections this is located under the dash on the passenger side. Also there is a stat for the air con this is normally fully ACW I.e minimum setting.

If the air on is working properly it should be really cold I know mine is.

Mm.. Ok guess it needs some investigation then. Dom said he fixed the pins on the ECU when he had the car in, so hopefully that's all fine. Will get it checked when it's in for its service.

Have you checked that the stepper motor is working and that the flap it operates is fully closing off the hot air. If it is not then you will get continual hot air which then dilutes the cold aire from the air conditioner. I had the same problem and found that the stepper motor was seized and the flap was fully open so hot air all the time. Put in a new steeper motor and adjucted it so the flap completely closed of the hot air. I now have nice cold air which makes for a much more comforatble car!!

RE: erratic fan speed, I'd suggest that the blower motor needs a bit of tlc.

Access is via the battery compartment, where, with the battery removed, you can see the removable grp panel on the outboard side. Removing this panel allows you to see into the void btwn the inner and outer wings.

If you grovel in the void you'll be able to find the electrical supply to the blower motor. The 2-pin connector is best cleaned up and then, I've sprayed a liberal amount of electrical restorative (TM Fospro) up into the motor itself, which is just visible by getting your head into the wheel arch and looking with a torch up to a point level with the top of the front tyre. This procedure has got my blower motor running well a couple of times.

TVR, in their wisdom, ducted the air from the p'pot grill N/S up through the wing void into the blower motor. Problem is that any surface water on the roads also takes the same route and soaks the motor. I'm considering putting some sort of baffle/weir behind the grill to prevent gross water reaching the motor.
