Hi, I have three S-Cargo's as I really like them, one white, one yellow and one is a ladybug (bird).

Heads are tempremental, and two have gone, but only one was salvageable.

Does anyone know where I can find a cylinder head, either in the UK (where I am right now) or in Canada/USA (I live in Canada) and my s-cargos are in Canada.

It is the E16S 1487 engine out of the 83 Sentra, and whatever else that engine was dropped into.

I am really struggling in finding a cylinder head for this car, and would be really grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction.

I think you mean E15S not 16. This engine was fitted to few UK market cars, unfortunately all of them back in the mid 80s. Mainly Sunny B11 and Cherry N12.

The 1500 head was problematical even when the cars were relatively new, they used to crack internally and overheat. Many people simply changed the head gasket and it would overheat again.

Good used heads were scarce 20 years ago so doubt there's many about now.

Sorry, my type, it is the e15s head, but I wondered would an e16 head fit?

I am looking forward to the s-cargo joke lolol

but yes, the heads were an issue way back when and they don't stand up to use very well, and the cooling systems are not exactly good.

I am still looking, but yes, it would be interesting to know if the e16 head would fit directly without alterations.

A snail wins the lottery, and as he has always wanted to be a racing driver he spends out on a race car, trailer, team of mechanics, fireproof suit and a crash helmet

He gets to the first race and realises that if he has his crash helmet on, no one can tell he's a snail! So he paints a giant "S" on the side of his car

During the race, as he flies down the main straight in the lead, the commentator shouts...

"LOOK AT THAT "S" CAR GO!!!"

I wish I could reply with the comedy cymbals!!

One of mine is painted up as a lady bird.

I enquired about getting one of my others wrapped like the geneal lee, but they wanted $3000...so it's still yellow!

Would love to drop a fast, high revving engine in one of them

Paolo, did you have any luck finding a replacement head or engine? I'm trying to track one down as well...

Hi there. New member. I have an S-cargo also. Head has gone for second time. First time it was just skimmed. Second time it cracked. I can't find a head also. I'm in the UK.

I am considering dropping in a diesel engine in its place. Has anyone heard of anyone doing this? If so what engine did they use?

I'm wondering about something like a nissan micra engine and gearbox. i dont mind a bit of fiddling to make fit.

Thanks for your help.

Don't even think about it. Will be a never ending clusterfk. If it were me I'd try and find a donor with a similar engine. E series engines in the UK were 1.3, 1.5 and 1.6. N10 and N12 Cherry. B11, B12, N13 Sunny. All from the 1980s. Or talk to a specialist importer of JDM stuff and see if they have contacts in Japan who could help.

Hi Everyone

I know this is an old post but I’m hoping someone can help me:

The cylinder head on my Nissan s cargo has gone after overheating. I’ve been advised there has been water in the chambers and the insides are now marked (there are no holes or pips in the walls)

Has anyone else experienced this?

I’ve looked into a replacement engines and have found an E13, the engine I currently have is an E15S, would these be easily interchangeable?

Thanks for your help

As previously mentioned the heads used to crack internally.

I think if you get an E13 complete with all the ancilliaries you should be OK.

The manifolds are different, not interchangeable, and the exhaust downpipe flange on the E15 is a twin port whilst the E13 is single so you would have to sort that but can`t think of much else.

If you do go for it, replace all the core plugs on the E13, they were very prone to rusting and leaking, IIRC there is one in the block behind the flywheel.

One thing I`m not sure about is whether the E15 gearbox / clutch / transmission will mate up to an E13. Can`t remember.

Please don`t buy one based solely on this, it was all a long time ago.

Looks like a head is still available in Japan, not cheap though.
