That little green LED by the centre console in the 3200. Should it be on permanently? What's it's use ? It just annoys me when driving at night. I have a fix in mind with the ultimute tool (hammer). Also spent 2 hours yesterday stripping out the stereo because it stopped working. Checked the fuse first and that was fine. Took the unit out and checked both live feeds: Only one was live. So who came up with the bright idea for the stereo to run off 2 seperate fuses one at position 17 and one at 6 as i remember!!! What a waste of time that was. Always pays to read right through I suppose. I once dismantled a laptop from the underside to the top side to replace the keyboard membrane, and when I got to it I found that it could be prised out from the top in approx 5 seconds ! DOH !

Ian,

Rather than dismantle the 3200, forget your fastidious insticts and stick a bit of tape over it!

I've had things like this on one or two cars - drove me crazy. Black insulting tape ideal.

Ian.

OK i'll agree that a complete tool kit should consist of the following:

A Hammer.
B Tape.
C Any combination of the above.

Mr McNabb in a car with faulty brakes and a roll of tape. I'll watch that from the sidelines I think

The strip out was for the stereo in case it read that I stripped the stereo to mend the LED that I dont want. Confused?

Does anyone know what the little green light is for?

Also, what's the score about faulty brakes? Quite worrying!

It was what Ian said a few posts earlier!

"Mr McNabb in a car with faulty brakes and a roll of tape. I'll watch that from the sidelines I think"

I thought the light maybe had something to do with a handbrake warning.

Sorry - it takes a while for the penny to drop these days...

Mr McNab. I wholeheartedly apologise for giving you an extra B in your surname. BTW not only are we both Ians but we are both Ian Stuarts (stewart). I was originally a MacLachlan before my Mother saw fit to marry another man with a surname that sounds the same sober and drunk !

If the green LED is night time illumination then Maserati should take a look at how the previous 5 series was done. Very subtle and effective.

Ian (stuart) (previously Maclachlan) Laishley...

Ian,

No need to apologise - use Ian instead. McNab sounds incredibly dour - I pinched it from John Buchan's "John McNab" (the ficticious poacher)!

You think you have a problem? I'm blessed with Ian Macpherson McCallum Stewart - try that one after a few pints!

Any hints and tips or comments on Maseratis would be gratefully received - from you and all the other afficionados here.

-Never sell it. The Gransport would appear to be excellent but my experience of trying to sell a 3200 last year was not great;
-Keep it nice and warm in a garage when not using it as they like to be pampered;
-Carry a big bottle of washer fluid (& a funnel) in the winter as the washer bottle has a very low capacity and on my 3200 leaked and could'nt be filled very fast;
-I'll watch out for you on the local roads. I particularly like the Blairgowrie to Dunkeld (and on to Crieff or Aberfeldy) run.

Cheers

Andrew,

Thanks! Interesting about the washer bottle - must be an Italian thing...

Older Ferraris had an inriguing little plastic bag hooked onto the side of the engine bay. Held about half as much as an ancient hot water bottle and spat back at you whenever you tried to top up!

Maybe you'll find yourself near Crieff in Feb/March and have time to drop in for a verdict (plus refreshment)!

notice the oil needs topping up after 800 miles!
not sure if this is normal or not on the masers!
apart from that she is great fun and i dont regret buying her .

if you have desires on them then buy one - i bought mine from main dealer who are excellent and she feels like a good purchase (only time will tell )

I was told by the people at Dick Lovett's that the only thing they could come up with was that it showed where the ashtray is.

get an artists paintbrush & a small tin of paint (you choose colour!) & put a small dab on the top of the led, it'll be enough to take away the distraction factor.

Chewing gum has much the same effect - or blu-tack!
