Funny that, this being a car website and all.
I hope you know what I mean. I enjoy a mix of gossip, politics, cars, jokes etc. I tended to just keep GG on all day - and check japchat once or twice a week. I'm on here because I like cars, but I've stayed here because of the personalites/opinions/chat element of the site. That means I'll probably stay in here all day and check GG occasionally.

GG is just plain boring now with so many ranting/plain boring threads it's almost not worth going in there anymore.
Similary Pie and Piston appears to house all the crap which was readable in that "I'll scan for an interesting post, oooh, whats this?" way but not "I'll go out of my way and look in another forum" way. Plus of course it's yet another forum to read - maybe it's becoming too seperated?
On another forum I frequent (about computers) there is an Off-Topic forum and I never ever read it - it's full of childish, mindless crap with little or no interest to me - P&P is going to be that nowadays I fear. There are already a fair few people who don't read GG.
With this new version of the GS you are writing Ted hows about allowing people to combine forum's? i.e. people like me and read P&P and GG together?

The mix of car stuff and general off-topic was fun. I don't now tend to visit GG, and I suspect many others now don't. This means the car threads there miss the input and wit of the PH regulars.
I understand the issue of this being a Car site, but there are many specific forums here for that.
General Gassing was great because it was eclectic, The Pie and Piston is much more like many other forums (albeit with more wit and intelligence than most).
I think dividing the forums, although an interesting and valid idea, has weakened the whole rather than strengthened it IMHO.
