Is there one like 'Pit Stop' in London, but closer?

Topcats are doing or have a Saturday club for DIY on your car at their new premises. Check their website for details. Maybe closer?.

There's a 'community workshop' in Welwyn that has welders, lathes, a ramp, all sorts of stuff. Pretty good and doesn't cost a great deal from what I remember.

Welwyn would be good, unfortunately Topcats is even further from me than London.

I really just want access to a ramp so i can clean up the underside of the Jag and give it a coat of underseal before the winter comes.

What is the one in welwyn called Lewis?

I'll have to ask the guy at work mate, he uses it all the time. I think it's 10 per night to use the ramp or 35 per week.

Not sure if the link will work but I'm 80% sure the green marker is where it is in Welwyn, close to B&Q. Can't seem to find anything about it on the internet unfortunately.

I live a few minutes from there, how have I never heard of this place? I'm always having to "make do" on the drive way with axle stands....

Lew, are you sure you're not thinking of the council run workshop that used to be by Stanborough School? My dad used that place to do up a boat & it was well used by people working on motors, but was closed 20 years ago. I grew up in WGC & can't remember anywhere else in the town that was around for DIY servicing.

Justin, it is a council run thing but I'm almost sure it's in that building and still has a lot of people doing projects in there. A mate from work who's well into his cars took me there for a poke round about a year ago now, he used it fairly extensively as he's just finished building a Kawasaki Ninja powered Smart car.

Probably not much help Lewis...... not sure if you remember Simon (Spychim or something like that) he had a lock up with ramp etc which Jon (Chimjunkie) used when he knackered his engine..... I know Simon doesn't live locally anymore (used to be Codicot) ..... lock up used to be out near Letty Green (I think)...... someone may be renting it like Simon used to
