I'm going to Canada soon and travel agent suggested buying a new satnav with Canada maps would be cheaper than hiring one with the hire car - any ideas of decent deals at present including Canada.

P.s Gone off TomTom as just thrown mine out the car window and then reversed over it - childish but very satisfying!

I was planning to buy one when I got there. They seem to be around $100 (US) for a Garmin / Tomtom. Pretty much the same price as buying the maps here and installing them on your device.

Target and Bestbuy sell them, amongst others.

^^ +1 ^^ Choose and buy when you get there? With the exchange rate at around Canadian $1.65+ to the £, I reckon you will find specials at $60/80!! (just £40/50 !!)

Another vote for buying one out there.

Although, you 'may' not need one.
The cities are mostly simple grids and the journeys between cities are a case of getting in the only road and staying on it for 8 hours. smile
