CX bike wheels with discs - hub sizes?

I've had my CX bike a while now and I love being able to ride it down a muddy track, along the road and then back home along a canal tow-path. And that was one of the reasons I bought it. The chunky tyres I have on it are undoubtedly slower on tarmac but a good all rounder for hard and soft surfaces.

However, looking into the future, the other reason for buying the bike was for it to be my winter bike. For this duty, it will be mainly used on road so I am starting to look for a spare set of wheels to put road biased 'winter' tyres on*. So, are disc equipped wheels a standard size,particularly around the hub or are there a few orientations about?

130mm is standard road, a lot of manufacturers went to 135mm (MTB standard) when fitting discs though.

I find that 25c road tyres fit nicely on Mavic TN719's, which are a 29er rim.

Not a lot of options for disc equipped decent CX wheels at a reasonable price.

Kinesis do some good ali wheels with decent hubs for £279. I'm running 28mm Gatorskins on my CX wheels

I also know some people who have run chinese farsports carbon clinchers which have been pretty good and they are about £350 landed.

Interested in this too. Looking at getting rid of my winter road bike and changing it for a cross bike.

Want to know what a cross bike is really like on the road, much different to a road bike? Could I swap wheel for more road specific ones?

Mine has tighter gearing. The lowest is slightly lower than my road and the highest much lower. It is slightly heavier and doesn't feel as agile. However, I do 20-30mile rides at 18mph average on off road tyres. You feel it on hills though!

As long as you are 135mm rear, you can use a 29er wheelset which are plentiful, hope on stans crest is a good option for something nice, that particular setup has been used by Rob Jebb to win the three peaks the other year.

I've got a set of kinesis cross lights on my CX.

Sub 1500g wheel set, disc spec, the newest version has an 11 speed compatible hub - so pretty future proof.

260 from Fatbirds. Utter bargain for some smooth rolling lightweight wheels.
