Hullo! Many of you may know me as the guy who helps out at a PH event now and again, and I was happy to help Infinity Exhausts run the recent Noise Contest at Caring With Cars today. Unfortunately, most of the field had left before we were able to give out the prizes, so instead I've uploaded the results here for easy reading.

For those that want the full XLS file, you can view and download it here.

(The TVRs don't have colours because I'm scatterbrained and I'd probably never remember. Feel free to bother me about it and I'll update it.)

I possibly should have mentioned that the cutouts were halfway down the side of the car really... probably would have been a touch higher that way :-)

That means I won (I think?) eek

Just had the new exhaust fitted (from a Challenge Stradale) didn't realise it was *that* loud - even beat the Ducati! 125.8 db - don't think I'll get on many track days with that!

Great day - thanks to all who made it possible!

When u think the Ducati was only using less than half the revs I wonder what it would have done hitting the limiter

Yay i can still claim quietest car, but he does have a lovely baby burble. He's not a 595 yet...maybe once he grows up.

As for the 'great unwashed' i wouldn't let Posh Twit see that as he cleaned a lot of our cars before the show!! smile

Sorry, i'd correct it but I have a serious case of the 'sunburn so sitting in a cool room with some ice cream' at the moment. With a generous helping of the 'can't be arsed'. :P Maybe tomorrow.

Also shame that we didn't get the other Abarth who put his name down, or the Lambo, which wanted in but never turned up.

I hate to name and shame...
But...

Although, in his defence, it wasnt an Abarth, just a 500 twin air. And he did get close to lining it up and basically it was barely audible above people talking. Hahaha

You very nearly had it Frederick, regretably I think you had to be "in it (at the end of the day) to win it" frown

No problem cool but I was wondering: won what? What did I miss? The guy organising it said he thought there wasn't anything other than bragging rights when I asked.

They did actually have trophies, and some Nerf guns as prizes for the winners, but most of you ran off after the raffle, so the black F430 got the trophy at the end of the day, if I recall, as one of the last few left with a real engine noise.

The noise/sound competition was badly organised. On the approach there we signs saying ask for a ticket to enter at the gate, yet the people on the gate didn't know about it (not their fault as they hadn't been told). We asked a few other marshalls who also didn't know. Eventually we were told to sign up at the raffle table, which was not easy to do at gone 12pm when people were trying to buy raffle tickets. Once signed up there was more confusion...hunt down a marshal who has a post-it pad to stick on your car. Followed just stand by your car and we'll find you, then to be told we needed to move our cars from the main parking area up to the haha area...not easy if your car is blocked in by others front and back because the parking was then 3 rows deep and having to try and manoeuvre around people having picnics.

As for having a car with 'real engine noise' we could all have cars which are extremely loud but for some, our pride and joy is also our daily runner so it's not always practical.
My car was the quietest on the sound competition but it does have a lovely note to it when it's not surrounded by 100+ people talking.

Hats off to the guys from Infinity for supplying the trophies and having to listen and judge that many different cars.

Ohh and the nerf guns were raffle prizes.
Rant mode off now smile

Its actually hats off to graham for the trophies, But we had fun judging and would do it next year. We were giving an out of ten for quality but next year would possibly give out of 20 or 30 so that the better sounding cars have more of a chance of winning over just the all out loud cars.
