Fantasy fabrication (just for fun)

I've been doing some long term mulling over the years about a fantasy project regarding an italian classic of some sort, upgraded with reasonably contemporary running gear - basically a bare shell, cage, buckets, harnesses, new loom, ancilliaries, engine, drivetrain, etc etc etc.
I can't afford a Stratos or an 037 so what I would love to do is update a Montecarlo shell with the cage, buckets, etc - and have an alfa v6 installed in the back.
Alternatively, a Fulvia body similarly fettled and built up but instead with two Ducati Monster 1200S twins mated together to give a punchy little 290bhp normally aspirated V4 (apparently 145bhp each).
What might either of these projects cost in terms of development, fabrication and labour? Stratos money..? Any thoughts about the possibilities - doesn't seem impossible to me, who wants to be first to burst the bubble?
